And here goes the judging!

Phyrexian Cabalist 1BB

Creature - Zombie Wizard

All colored mana symbols on your cards become phyrexian mana (can be paid with 1 mana of their color or 2 life)

Life is nothing but a resource to achive real power

I think flavourwise it should have been an artifact with Phyrexian mana in its casting cost. The idea of a phyrexian augmenting other spells with what itself possesses would have been sweet. Flavour text is pretty bland and could go on any card that refers to phyrexian mana. This card would be a lot of fun I think, my Johnny side is already thinking of the possibilities. Overall it's a little bland. B+

See You Later 3U

Put target creature into its owner's library third from the top.

Alligator 2G

Put a 3/1 Crocodile creature token into play.

ok... that is fucking hilarious. Flavour is perfect, very funny. I like how See You Later really shows that hey, you will see that creature later. And Alligator? lol, come on man, that's just hilarious. Well played my man, well played. Just imagining Alligator as an instant on its own without a split card is making me laugh. Great card! A+

Truculent Verdict 1B

Sorcery - C

Destroy target creature.

*yawn* Murder was cool both because of what it did and its name. Truculent Verdict does not roll off the tongue. Why is this Verdict so truculent? Who is making the verdict? Flavour is a big thumbs down on this card. You should have called it.... Heart attack or something. C-

Mesmeric Shade.................................BB
Creature - Shade................................R

Discard a non-land card: Mesmeric Shade is unblockable.

When Mesmeric Shade attacks and isn't blocked, each opponent discards a card at random.

Formless, soulless, and merciless.

This card seems overpowered. And what's the deal with discarding when it's not blocked rather then when it deals damage? That just seems to overcomplicate the card for what appears to be no valid reason. Don't gum up a card without cause imo. Why can't you discard a land card to make it unblockable? Flavour text is pretty ho hum, as that text could be put on an black creature imo. B-

Bear all weight - WW

Target creature you control gets +4/+4 and Lifelink until end of turn.
At end of turn, sacrifice it.

What weight is this creature bearing? Why does he get so big and lifelinky because he's bearing all this weight? Perhaps some flavour text could have helped explain. Why does he die at the end of the turn? How could I possibly give this card a high grade when I have so many questions and doubts? F

Pristine Command - Rare
Choose two - Search your library for a land card, put it into play tapped, then shuffle your library; or put three 1/1 Saproling tokens into play; or creatures you control get +1/+0 and gain first strike until end of turn; or destroy target artifact or enchantment.

Lots of good options, very flexible. Being an instant makes it even better! Awesome!..... So you made a new command. Good for you. If you'd called it Selesnya Command I'd have given you an A-. B-

Chicanery BUUUR
Instant (Mythic Rare)
Choose one - Counter target spell. If an artifact or creature spell is countered this way, put that card onto the battlefield under your control instead of into its owner's graveyard; or Search target opponent's library for a creature card and put that card onto the battlefield under your control. Then that player shuffles his or her library; or Gain control of target creature.

Chicanery : The use of trickery to achieve a political, financial, or legal purpose.

Yeah that's right, I cared enough to look it up. What I really hate about this card is that you added artifact into the first mode but not the other two. What was your reasoning behind this? It just makes the card seem wrong. I'm not sold on the casting cost either... seems really.... awkward. You really dropped the ball on this one imo. B+

once the physical possessions are shed, one can be seen for who they truly are.

lol, yeah, this card is broken, but that's ok. Love this with Wild Mongrel. I don't like the flavour. How is discarding your hand shedding physical possessions? How about this...

Inner Beauty 2WW
Exile all permanents you control. You gain shroud and Protection from Everything. At end of turn, return all permanents exiled in this way to the battlefield.
"Once the physical possessions are shed, one can be seen for who they truly are."

See? That's why I keep winning these CaC's. Your card is very playable, possibly even broken, but you failed as far as flavour imo. B+

Biologist's Codex - GU

Instant - Uncommon

Search your library for a creature with no abilities, reveal it, and put it into your hand. Then shuffle your library.

Transmute 1GU

"Bat, bear, beast, bird, boar... Aha! Here it is."

I really don't like how you put Transmute on this UG card. What were you thinking? The name is cool, I like the flavour text how it fits the card. But Transmute on a UG card.... ugh... what a fall down failure. C

ck3gds wrote:
Magma Geyser 2R

Sorcery (rare)

Magma Geyser deals damage to target creature or player equal to twice the amount of R spent to cast it.

"Hit a flying dragon with a burst of magma? Challenge accepted!"

The card is really good for playability. What's up with the flavour text? Who's saying it? Why is adding more red into this spell related to hitting a dragon? Why would anyone use this pile of crap outside of mono red, and is RRR deal 6 too good? Ah who knows, decent card, very boring. F

AxiomBlurr wrote:
Void Sphere 6

Artifact - Rare

Void Sphere is indestructible.

Whenever a permanent that you control becomes exiled, you may exile target permanent.

The sphere is perfection eternal and the void is thus.

OH!!! And AxiomBlurr changes the wording in the last minute! I started judging like, not 10 minutes after having seen your original wording, and I was all excited about slapping an F on it. Now I have to think god damn it. Thinking....

Boring. F

Revenge of the Leaves

Exile target non-creature permanent.
If you have card named Revenge of the Leaves in your graveyard, put an emblem with "Whenever an opponent targets a spell or permanent you control, copy that spell or ability and choose new targets for the copy" onto the battlefield as well.
"One bone broken for every twig snapped underfoot. Promise kept."

Ha ha ha, quoting old llanowar elf flavour text..... Booo! That's just dumb. I don't like this card. It's just the same as a million other green cards. So does the emblem leave when it's not in your graveyard? Heh, does it, "leave". Mwa ha ha.... hilarious. This card is just silly. no reason you should be copying and redirecting spells because you have green leaves your graveyard. F

Seeing as you dislike planeswalkers so much, I thought Id make a hate card Cool

Ugh, if you're going to mock up a card image use good art. Who painted that, Phil Foglio? Just kidding, Phil Foglio is fucking awesome. This is just a March of Machines for Planeswalkers, pretty boring and unoriginal. C

Envious Frog (1)G

G: Remove a +1/+1 counter from target creature, put a +1/+1 counter on Envious Frog.
When Envious Frog dies, it deals damage equal to its power to target creature with flying.
Stretching and straining, enlarging till she bursts..

You see, it's shit like this that makes me think there's still hope for the ML CaC community. This thing is extremely funny (the pic helps), flavourful, AND playable. Not sure why it deals damage to a flyer when it dies. Why isn't it a may? If you have the only flyer when it dies it's just going to explode all over your own creature? That's retarded. If it was all creatures with flying, that would make more sense. But having to TARGET your own creature is just nonsensical. Ugh, WHY did you do that?!?!!? Why isn't is optional?!

God damn it, I wanted to let this card win. In fact I was going to give it an A+, that's why I started judging so soon after posting this CaC, because of this card. But after judging up to this point and rereading it, I just can't do it. And it's all because of that crappy having to deal damage to a flyer. If that line wasn't there you'd have won. A-

Fertile Bloom G

Enchantment Uncommon

Landfall - Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, put a charge counter on Fertile Bloom.

At the beginning of your upkeep, you may sacrifice Fertile Bloom. If you do, put a 1/1 green Saproling creature token onto the battlefield for each charge counter on Fertile Bloom.

So... using landfall but not quest counters eh? Ok, np. Why is this fertile bloom doing what this card is making it do? I don't get it. This card seems very underpowered, and unflavourful and it should have quest counters, even though it's not really a quest. Should have been called, "Quest for the Crop Ruiners". heh, maybe not. Anyways, bad boring card gets a B

Split Second

Target creature gains Hexproof and can't be blocked by creatures without flying until end of the turn.

"Now you see you ---"

Troll Ascetic has Hexproof. I see why invoking the power of the troll a creature gains hexproof. Why can't flyers block it? Why are Split Second and Retrace on the same card? Would this be likely to be printed? No. And don't give me that Future Sight bullshit cause Retrace came out afterwards. F

Detain target creature. Gain control of each equipment attached to it.

"Do you have a licence for this?" - Erasmus, Azorius Lawkeeper.

I do realize that Boros is most appropriate for this spell's flavor text, but I really wanted to use the detain ability on a card and it's not completely wrong flavorwise to use Azorius too. Enjoy Smile

Yeah, I agree, it should have been a Boros card with Detain. Hrmmm.... I think you should have reworded it to fit the Azorius Flavour, especially since you're self admitting that the flavour is wrong. Something like, "Detain target creature, exile all equipment attached to it". Could have made a better flavour text with that version as a judge sentencing someone and having his things impounded/confiscated. Still a neat card I guess... B

Choose one - All creatures get -1/-1 until the end of turn; or target player discards 2 cards; or destroy target planeswalker.

Lol, ok, ok, I like it. Probably too broken, but WotC has kinda lost their collective mind recently, so who knows. Little boring and unoriginal though. Thanks for playing! B

And the winner is!!!!.... Wtf.... it's.... StarWolf? LOL, that's fucking hilarious! The whole time I was judging I had assumed it was going to be that fucking frog, I had forgotten about StarWolf's sweet card.

The frog explodes for 2 reasons. I assume they are not good reasons enought to win.

I was looking for a dying effect, some frogs have reach, green doesn't like flying creatures...

Thanks for judging and almost giving me the win Laughing

LOL I can't believe I won. My card is definitely very close to unglued/unhinged/future sight territory so I thought it was risky :p

edit: I'll make the next thread soon when I think of an idea.

Right winner. Perfect power level for a great Limited card. Maybe even Block.
I was loling os hard when I read it. Just imagine your opponent going "End of Turn... Alligator" with a straight face. Priceless.

I prefer, "In response, Alligator."

See You Later is a bit overpowered considering Griptide, but still a flavorful, funny submission.
