so i dunno how i never processed this before but this weekend i had a revalation about teamdrafting for replacement sets.
if you win, you get to open 3 packs.
if you lose, you lose 6 packs.

these are what i call horrible pot-odds.

don't get me wrong i love drafting, teams, 2hg, rochester, mini-master... i love it all... but why does anyone play for replacement sets? it's like playing against 3:1 odds. unless you win 75%+ of the time you are losing money.

when you team draft the winning team usually keeps all the rares, and sometimes a team draft is also known as a money draft

If you win you got to open 6 packs. In general an open pack is worth less but you get enjoyment out of playing obviously.

It is mostly for fun. If you have a job at all or win product on a regular basis you can easily afford to lose the packs.

If you want to spice things up, you have each player put up $20. But then, in my opinion, the incentive to cheat grows too large for me to trust the average magic player. And you're also gambling, which is illegal.

It's risky to gamble not only because it is illegal. With the greater incentive to cheat you run the risk of an altercation and all that entails.
