pauper is an awesome format

by SGM on 2012-07-29 20:35 CET

indeed, ggs to everyone

by el_focker on 2012-07-29 21:12 CET

Was extremely unlucky in the finals :( I def thought the meta would have more storm and not as much delver though. Prob should have played more snags and fewer echoing truths and more bounce sb. You'd think 9 answers to delver would be enough with all the card draw but i guess not. Spire golem seems good for the mirror but prob not better than gush+ a low land count. Im starting to think that 14 is the right number.

by Duodax on 2012-07-29 21:13 CET

modo ftw :)

ehm serrated arrows are there for mirror and not crappy bounce

by Steveman on 2012-07-29 21:44 CET

I played shitty reanimator. Game 1 was really funny, my opponent was at 4 and was all tapped out and had a Mulldrifter while I had Hand of Emrakul with no cards in hand.

I topdeck a Muddle the Mixture and I was like "sweet, I can Transmute for Doom Blade ftw!" Turns out I already played all 3 of my Doom Blades and I lost 3 turns later :(

by kane2 on 2012-07-29 22:51 CET

who wins the 1st rd and then drops? lol

by Ansore on 2012-07-30 10:45 CET

What do you mean duodax?
Btw, played 3 bad matchups and dropped before I got 2 piece-of-cake ones. Delver would have been easy

by bobrimton on 2012-07-30 12:38 CET

Y no Snapcaster Mage

by Duodax on 2012-07-30 12:48 CET

you have to play A) 16 lands and B) serrated arrows to break through golems in mirror in delver

by Wichtelman on 2012-07-30 16:42 CET

ansore are you serious about the delver matchup?
i got crushed badly...
well maybee he had those insane draws i dont know ^^

i dont think the post matchup vs delver is piece of cake, it depends on what version of delver u are facing. I played against post in the first round and won 2-0. i think the sideboard plan of boarding in stormbound geist, hydroblast and the light counters is legit. I think the MU is actually very close and skill intensive.

by Wichtelman on 2012-07-30 18:59 CET

geist is so hot specially vs arrows :s

by Ansore on 2012-07-30 19:00 CET

Any of both delvers is easy.
7 MD removal pieces (3 of them flashback) + 4 serrated arrows + glimmerposts + blockers that draw cards.
Post SB, 4 Pyroblast make the matchup even better
And yes, you need to know how to play the matchup, it's not just about slinging cards and win

by Shagrath on 2012-07-30 19:20 CET

something's wrong, where's ur storm and infect?

by Tao on 2012-07-30 22:44 CET

by DonDiggy on 2012-07-31 05:36 CET

Won R1 with White Weenie vs Infect. Standard Bearer beats his entire deck, especially with Bodyguard Backup.

Lost R2 to Goblin Storm in a pretty close match. He Probably got eaten by Delver, because it's the decks worst matchup.

by straca3 on 2012-07-31 14:15 CET

Lol, such bad decklists

by straca3 on 2012-07-31 14:18 CET

And seriously Don Diggy - WW vs Storm close matchup wtf? Its 40-60 at best.

by DonDiggy on 2012-07-31 21:25 CET

The Matchup is slightly negative, indeed. But only if the Stormplayer knows that he has to fish for an early kill. You shouldnt wait a single turn against a deck with tons of oncolor hate and a pretty fast and resilient clock. However my friend, reading wins. I said: " a pretty close match". Not Matchup. Just saying.

by Ansore on 2012-08-01 10:16 CET

lol shagrath, I got 2 mono green infect in 3 rounds
