well done dear

by Memmy on 2012-06-26 23:42 CET

Well, at least I lost to the winner in a really tight match Round 1.

Good job!

Seems like its time to dig up the old "Ponder is no card for control decks" discussion again ...
Also the fact that you play 3 could give it away already.

It's UW Midrange, not UW Control

by jfc on 2012-06-27 00:07 CET

its wu delverless! <3

The deck felt so unfair, dropped before finals, but I only lost a single game. Admittedly, the sb plan against aggro is a little awkward, but it's like 73/75 of the deck that won the MOCS. For those interested:

Round One : FLores' mbc list: won 2-0, ultimated Tamiyo both games and won fairly easily

Round Two: URW Delver, it was pretty standard Delver, except that he had red for bonfire of the damned. The games went long and uw midrange wins the long ones typically. 2-0

Round Three: Yuuya Delver. This was the hardest matchup by far. I won game one easily after he didn't see any white mana, and game two he beat back with pike, and game three was the best game of the tournament for me, and fortuantely I came out on top.2-1

Round Four: Juza's naya aggro. He kept two fairly sketchy hands, and I was able to find the days and Gideons to pull out 2-0

Not sure whether this or esper midrange is better though, probably will test them both in preparation for master. Deck definetly felt like it could have used some doom blades.

Good job Rockets! At least I lost to a top 3 finisher =)

by Mitchmachine on 2012-06-27 11:28 CET

1 strangleroot seems wrong for so many reasons

by pankill on 2012-06-27 12:52 CET

agree mitch i suppose she plays it as a pod target to 2 when thalia is irrelevant but it is not pod deck so whatever 2 drop would be better

by Rockets on 2012-06-27 12:54 CET

Heh thanks Boeda. Our match was close.

Strangleroot Geist is a decent aggro card and a good pod card, and it's basically Naya Aggro splashing pod. You don't want more than one because your manabase can't handle it, since it's the only non-human card with a double colour in its casting cost, but there's nothing else that's better in slot, and a singleton to give you SOMETHING to pod to at 2 isn't bad. The 1 Strangleroot Geist is way better than a 4th Thalia or 3rd Mikaeus or a Viridian Emissary.

On another note, I was experimenting with Whipflare in the sideboard, didn't like, and I usually run a second Ancient Grudge. Besides that, I consider my list to be a more or less completely perfect 75 for this metagame and would recommend playing it if you like winning a lot.

by TugaChampion on 2012-06-27 14:07 CET

TugaChampion is the best player in the world!!!

by Shagrath on 2012-06-27 16:11 CET

by pankill on 2012-06-27 17:56 CET

play one who soulbounds with lifelink he can change the game in a ways geist can not:(

by ckfnpku on 2012-06-27 18:09 CET

For two drop human, I'd go with Mayor of Avabruk.

by pankill on 2012-06-27 18:50 CET

netherheart bla blah or how is it called in race situation in a silverheart bound or a big geist body it wins you the game
