Why cavern of souls in big red

by AxiomBlurr on 2012-05-02 00:21 CET

Cavern doesn't his much in Big Red but what it does is vital for wins against control. Nice list Kab...anything you think needs switching up?

by mtgsoldier on 2012-05-02 01:02 CET

Playing delver,by the time i saw kabelis playing cavern of souls, the mission impossible theme song started playing in my head. no chance obv.

by kurtyspice on 2012-05-02 05:08 CET

Fuck, I was trying to keep this esper deck under wraps...

by kurtyspice on 2012-05-02 05:10 CET

Ginesmm94, was the double black on liliana an issue a lot?

by Strid3r on 2012-05-02 08:53 CET

I like Wichtelmans list. But i think there are too many swords and the angelic destinies should be replaced.

by Kabelis on 2012-05-02 09:41 CET

Well tbh, you should switch and play a different deck, heh. There's very little reason to run mono mountains instead of the regular GR ramp, but I guess that's sort of obvious to good players. Koth CAN do some cool things, but against aggressive decks you just have to side him out and then you're just playing a neutered GR ramp..
I do like running max pillar of flames in this meta though, stopping strangleroot/doomed traveler/loyal cathar/moorland haunt/chandra's phoenix etc. is sweet. And caverns pulled their weight too.
But yeah, bottom line, unless you think Koth will be good against the meta, just run WRR.

by GunsAndDope on 2012-05-02 10:42 CET

WW Humans should have -s either sword, honor, or destiny and +4 o-ring

by Wichtelman on 2012-05-02 12:22 CET

i gues for some people testing and learn to play a deck is the same... if you know how any single card performs in each matchup you should profit...

by mtgsoldier on 2012-05-02 15:20 CET

You learn to play a deck by testing with it, or you test with it after you have learn to play with it? Please Wichtelman, help the community of magic-league to try to reach a new level o knowledge about the game.

by Shagrath on 2012-05-02 16:56 CET

No Bonfire of the Damned in Big Red? Not even in sideboard? How sad....

by Kabelis on 2012-05-02 19:40 CET

Well, it a non-creature deck slagstorm and whipflare are so much more efficient. If you could power it up with mana from koth/chandra after miracle'ing it, it would be sweet.

by Wichtelman on 2012-05-03 06:29 CET

this is like love and sex would be the same... :P

by on 2012-05-03 12:43 CET

Like the Esper much more than the previous, not because it won but because of the Sun Titan Image package which is much more consistant than running random Miracle cards and good vs anything with the exeption of maby Delver.

Personally I would switch some cards to make your game vs UW Delver much more optimal, a Tamiyo less and an extra Leak/Doomblade/Elesh Norn would be optimal imho.

Big Red looks like fun but really feels like a brew that really should evolve into RG when you play more with it.

by Wyr on 2012-05-05 19:38 CET

Why play Thought Scour in Esper control?

by Thelemys on 2012-05-05 22:03 CET

same Q?

by on 2012-05-06 11:45 CET

Well you could say it improves your Sun Titan Image "engine", but it's not that optimal, I agree.

by JustKenny on 2012-05-06 13:01 CET

If you ult tamiyo it becomes a one mana draw 3 right?

by on 2012-05-06 16:28 CET

Yup, potentially screw up opponent their ponders/miracles and many more things.
