just for fun, i looked at the deck you played. amidst hysterical laughter, i pondered why you would play a deck that concedes a number of matchups

Grixis list seems sweet!

by Mad03 on 2011-03-18 06:51 CET

maps : wich decks did who played against ?

by darkwizard42 on 2011-03-18 07:45 CET

you know what the best part of maps's comments are...

he is still the worse player...lower ratings in constructed, limited and legacy compared to TirdApe...proof that netdecking can't beat good playing =/

nice try maps, nice try

by Shagrath on 2011-03-18 08:50 CET

if maps is talking about valakut, he's the most retarded person that ever posted a comment here and should commit suicide.

by derflippi on 2011-03-18 13:15 CET

maps couldnt play anyways as he was banned himself.

fine, i will reply to your post, dw:

regarding my constructed ratings:
i recently lost around 70 points playing BW tokens in extended, which somewhat explains my extremely low rating as of now. i usually do not play with what turn out to be the most competitive decks because i like to try things out, as there is little risk aside from useless rating points, as i almost never can play in a full master.

while i do sometimes play the top decks (UW, faeries) its usually before a tournament where i know i will be playing with the deck in real life or on modo. my win percentage with very competitive, well-tested decks is quite high on this site.

regarding my limited rating:
i often concede limited games, or while deckbuilding, if we are stuck in a ground stall or my pool is atrocious; i really dislike sealed and usually join on impulse, and become bored fairly quickly. my masterbase is also oddly horrible, and i get some sort of copy/paste error every few sealeds which result in game losses/me having to reconfigure my entire masterbase--> conceding match

if you were to look at my actual decks, i am fairly certain you wouldnt see any misbuild.

regarding legacy:
i'm not good at legacy, i admit this willingly, i play these tournaments for fun. i dont join with the most competitive decks(given my play skill); usually i join with dredge, a deck which is good, but a deck that i have very little experience with and thus often misplay with.

my comments here are usually serious inquiries into why you would play a deck. my sarcastic tone in the comments above is regarding tird_ape's bad beats complaint, which i find quite humorous.

...proof that netdecking can't beat good playing =/
I very often misplay on this site; the only misplays i can remember are against calebD a few weeks ago, where I was drafting while playing an extended tournament (basically conceded with win on board) and versus comodope where i made a series of horrible plays that i would never make in a tournament where i was deeply considering the correctness of my plays.

why did i post this? i do find it insulting when my playskill is insulted. i pride myself on being a good player, and for you to take m-l ratings as evidence of poor play is illogical and loathsome

finally, regarding tird_ape's mono white deck:

i dont see how it has a good scapeshift matchup; it has very little pressure, and is soft to a scapeshift. it also has an extremely difficult faeries matchup.

lol, i say i "very often misplay"..i of course mean VERY RARELY

by Tao on 2011-03-19 04:07 CET

lol maps is banned

by XZERO on 2011-03-19 04:37 CET

maps... are you really banned?

by maps on 2011-03-19 05:48 CET

no, i am not banned. i was banned for a day by flippi: he likes to subject me to random punishments as he decides what is legal in #magic-league

by ChristPunchr on 2011-03-19 06:43 CET

I am not too up and up with what's going on in extended land, but it seems like the uw mystic decks would have done well up in dis...

by HotSoup on 2011-03-19 09:35 CET

I would also like to point out that while I may not agree with maps on everything, I will say that rating on ML is pointless. I play all sorts of random crap here. I'll drop if my sealed pool sucks. I don't give a shit about my rating here. So let's all stop comparing rating e-peen on ML when we all know it means nothing at all.

by Tao on 2011-03-19 16:42 CET

Rating is pointless because at least half of the times I've played against m-l staff out of the maybe 20 times I've played here, I've gotten dropped 0-2 for "not showing up" without them responding to me in chat. I realize this is all volunteer work, but that's bullshit. Someone had to report me as dropped, and it certainly wasn't me.
