3x Mul Daya in control apptly

by mchosa on 2010-04-28 02:16 CET

what? its the same 75 brad nelson won the mocs with...

by braveghost on 2010-04-28 02:27 CET

Nelson played cobra in the side. Funny that the deck doesn't want any of the ROE card's... although i think mana base could be made to include 1-2 evolving wilds not much else is added unless it wanted to try see beyond or completely change

by metzel_usa on 2010-04-28 03:32 CET

nelson has already dominated block w/ roe

by Almi on 2010-04-28 05:57 CET

GG Nickname, estás que te sales macho!

by Taodd on 2010-04-28 07:34 CET

12 Jace, the Mind Scultpor in the maindecks of the top 3... that says something.

by Ludz on 2010-04-28 07:51 CET

Tuga: Did you play against any red decks? How's the MU?

by Mitchmachine on 2010-04-28 10:56 CET

UW control without gideon?!

by stone_d on 2010-04-28 11:21 CET

What is the cunning sparkmage for in URG control?

by Mengu09 on 2010-04-28 11:41 CET

gideon?? what does it do?? :)
nice list of UW i played pretty the same gj

by TugaChampion on 2010-04-28 11:53 CET

This is the best deck prior to RoE. After RoE something better might show up, or maybe there are better UW lists but for now I think it's still the best choice until someone comes up with something broken.

I just changed the Lotus Cobras because Brad Nelson said that they were good when people sided out removal but I figured most people wouldn't do that after seeing Mul Daya and Mold Shambler was something I wanted to try. It was pretty good, usually serving as land destruction but it also killed a Gideon, a Jace and a journey to nowhere. It could even kill a spreading seas on a ravine if the game comes to that.

braveghost: evolving wilds would be fine but cutting non fetchs for it would probably make it that you run out of basics. There were several games where I almost run out of basics. If you replace another fetchI think the deck starts having too many tapped lands but it's something to test.

Ludz: no red decks but it should be a fine match up with all this removal.

stone_d: Brad Nelson's friend who designed the deck didn't play it but Brad Nelson said he really like it as it is great at stopping Bloodghast, Lynx, Geopede and all those creatures.

metzel_usa: as usual saying crap. Obv no one has dominated block with RoE because there is no metagame. The pros obv started testing but they're still after from dominating it. I wish we could ban people for extreme stupidity...

by TugaChampion on 2010-04-28 14:24 CET

The big advantage URG has over UW is that not only it plays 7 Jaces (Mul Daya is more fragile and sometimes misses but other times it's way better and usually does more or less the same) but it is also able to play them on turn3.

by Banda7 on 2010-04-28 19:47 CET

No one here seems to know anything about Zen block

by TugaChampion on 2010-04-28 19:50 CET

lol. yeah and Bral Nelson doesn't know anything either... you are the pro! the guy that said to me "you're playing a control deck in tribal", "random format for a trial" and "m-l is a joke". Why are you still here?

by floodstorm64 on 2010-04-28 20:47 CET

Jace is unstoppable in block! When cascade rotates out of standard, Jace is going to be even more nuts. Stock up on those pithing needles if you don't want to spend 100 on a Jace in the future.

by Eldariel on 2010-04-28 21:40 CET

Tuga: Can't red decks in block just burn you out? It seems like you have no means of interacting with stack-based kill and seem too slow to race.

by MetalDuck on 2010-04-28 21:48 CET

Tuga is my friend. We got a long so well. He is a decent person who knows how to control his own anger very well. He doesn't let the small things get to him.

by TugaChampion on 2010-04-28 22:03 CET

who the fuck is this duck?

eldariel: I don't know but still red decks have a terrible match up against UW so even if the match up is bad, as long as you dodge it (after round2 it's very unlikely you'll face it) you're fine.

by Banda7 on 2010-04-29 01:12 CET

I wasnt talking about you. I was talking about the "What is the cunning sparkmage for in URG control?"

by on 2010-05-05 13:30 CET

Tuga is a master.
