...this is the first time in my life I witness WW splashing Bitter Ordeal. What the heck is the card there for? You need to storm for at least 3 to make serious dent into any deck, and in a deck without ways to sacrifice your own permanents... As a Sorcery, it can't even act as a trump for Dredge or whatever.

On that note, isn't Figure just way too mana intensive to be any good in Xt?

by el_cuervito on 2009-12-31 01:30 CET

One more time.-. Thanks Truth for the deck

by Jackattack on 2009-12-31 01:40 CET

@Eldariel what if you caught someone playing scapeshift with it, you really only need to do it for 2 to make a dent against that deck

by Eldariel on 2009-12-31 01:42 CET

I suppose. So it's Scapeshift killer? Didn't know we were THAT Scapeshift heavy -.-

Why is Burn so overplayed? Was any of those real RDW with some LD-elements and a midgame plan, or were all of them "4 hasty, cheap guys, every Bolt in the format and 20 to the dome ASAP"?

Why is Burn so overplayed?

So easy, 4 lightning bolt = 12 dmg
4 Rift bolt = 12 dmg
4 Incinerate = 12 dmg
4 Blast = 20 dmg

by meagel on 2009-12-31 04:45 CET

It's the cheapest deck to build also, people are testing for the deck they'll play in the q's after all...

bc the magic-league metagame is fucked up theres like 3 zoo decks

by mrwegle on 2009-12-31 05:53 CET

Pls change deck's name to KELEVRA.
If this intresting to anyone my opps were :
R1 burn
R2 darkdepths
R3 affinity
R4 scapeshift zoo
R5 WWb
R6 scapeshift zoo
Very intersting for me why most of Scapeshift (combo) decks lost round one.
Wichtelman thx for good tech vs Scapeshift.
Eldariel is this something new for you that in ml people love to play Burn?

by SJM on 2009-12-31 06:13 CET

Mono-red is overplayed in extended because it is a decent deck that isn't expensive to build.

I.E. players that play IRL can actually afford to build mono-red and take it to an extended PTQ.

BSA and Tarmgoyf, among others, have priced most people out of extended which is merely one of the reasons it is a terrible format.

by Beto_cL on 2009-12-31 06:51 CET

gonzalo, insisto, para de jugar xd

by Welran on 2009-12-31 07:03 CET

go go mrwegle!
Burn is good vs scapshift and thopter

by Truth- on 2009-12-31 07:15 CET

That makes two times I have given el_cuervito a deck and he has topped

by el_cuervito on 2009-12-31 07:35 CET

Thanks bro!

by mrwegle on 2009-12-31 07:40 CET

Thx Welran
Truth- why you play Duergar Hedge-Mage and not Qasali Pridemage in main?

by Eldariel on 2009-12-31 10:25 CET

@wegle: Well, 12% of the metagame seems a bit much.
@meagel: Why don't PTQ players just invest in few sets of shocks...

by Wichtelman on 2009-12-31 10:57 CET

there are fetchlands to sac...
this deck eats scape and burn :P

by ykpon on 2009-12-31 11:37 CET

by Mengu09 on 2009-12-31 12:24 CET

@ Efrem_84.

great choice of deck!!! i think Kaio Deck is dead for the metagames without zoo instead!!!

Can i ask to judges why u give it that names?? where do u take the name Kaio?? XD the real invertors of that deck, right XD

by Krastino on 2009-12-31 13:05 CET

Yeah, Kaio deck was "created" by an italian player, Tommaso Campanini, during the last season of extended and he made some top8 with his deck.
I don't know if it's a good deck right now, time will tell :)

by on 2009-12-31 14:20 CET

gj Efrem :)

by wiltstorm on 2009-12-31 14:31 CET

seems to me that blood moon>kaio.dec

by Ryk on 2009-12-31 17:32 CET

Wichtelman gj you is the best

by Duodax on 2009-12-31 19:43 CET

wichtelman plays no pte wtf

by Mengu09 on 2010-01-01 11:37 CET

krasti, i took it to austin :)

in that meta was very good cuz there was many zoo and the mu is very very for kaio, but now the zoo are a few number... i don't know..

by Efrem_84 on 2010-01-01 16:57 CET

well, i thought too that blood moon and magus would have been a really big trouble. Since i have this deck already built i wanted to try it for the next ext tournaments in my city, to figure out how it works in the meta.
I faced uw control, ub faeries, scapeshift combo, zoo scapeshift and burn.
Lost to scapeshift zoo with a gl because of time and a bad hand in the 2nd game.
Blood moon and magus weren't a really big problem thanks to tidehollow, countersquall, bop and hierarc.
Side may be improved.

by Mammonth on 2010-01-02 08:59 CET

gj mrwegle! your deck is great, keep going
