Wops, I missed the MYOS Trial. Ouch :/ Seems like a good field for Dragon Stompy too. Blood Moon would've really destroyed all those nonsense multicolour piles. 'Geddon WW seems like it would've done fine too, as well as MUC. God I hate forgetting cool Trials.

XD Forgot Everlasting Torment or I could have been in the Finals, I guess thats what I get for building at 1am after seeing H & K escape from Geranamo Bay. Congrats Noname

by natethetank on 2008-04-27 20:02 CET
painter grindstone is pretty savage. i lost to the mirror. cant believe it didnt win the trial.
by Eldariel on 2008-04-27 20:19 CET
Not only that, Nate, but it didn't even Top 3.
by rdeg87 on 2008-04-27 20:33 CET
Dont see why the Gruul deck didnt pick 10th edition for Mogg Fanatic, Incinerate and Treetop Village
by Canabiest on 2008-04-27 22:24 CET
Kird Ape maybe.
by Shatta on 2008-04-27 22:58 CET
kird ape was a better pick than mogg fanatic and trettop village slowed the deck down a turn. volcanic hammer did exactly the same thing as incinerate and therefore made it an even pick for 9th over 10th
by aldaryn on 2008-04-28 00:09 CET
Once again we see that Ravnica is awesome. I guess lorwyn is too?
by gypsy on 2008-04-28 01:34 CET
i think painter grinder is overrated but might be solid, the format isnt really relivent so who knows.
by natethetank on 2008-04-28 01:59 CET
well i dont know about how bad it is but the only thing ive ever lost to is the mirror. until i lose a match in something other then the mirror i will believe it is the best deck.
by Balthazar88 on 2008-04-28 06:18 CET
This format is so awesome. More of this please!
by Ggerg on 2008-04-28 06:23 CET
what is this painter grinder?
by KeySam on 2008-04-28 07:06 CET
GJ to all/espacally Noname1. I think i underestimated this format a lot, i also played a dredge deck, and i did sloopy sideboarding, so i lost to noname1 in round 1. I also like the format. Keep it going.

painter's servant + grindstone
by Eldariel on 2008-04-28 11:24 CET
The problem with Painter's Grind is how just about all hate hits it. Creature hate? Check. Artifact hate? Check. Gaea's Blessing? Check. Pithing Needle? Check.
by Comodo on 2008-04-28 13:00 CET
I played Painters grind (3-1) and it worked very well. I never thought that there would be others who play the combo until i won the mirror in round 3. I lost vs the winner, cause he has about 5000000000000 removal and discard spells, its just too much to handle for my 8 duress. the kombo was good and funny to play, but i just won the matches cause of the surprise effect, there are too much good hate spells against the combo.
by aldaryn on 2008-04-28 13:52 CET
is painter + grinder a draw if they have wheel of sun and moon out enchanting themselves?
by OldBear on 2008-04-28 17:01 CET
I believe thats right as the loop is unending with no way of stoping it, though Im no hardtrack.
by stone_d on 2008-04-28 18:24 CET
WHy are shadowmoor cards counted as Lorwyn block? I thought they where different blocks. But just are together for block constructed?
by Eldariel on 2008-04-28 18:38 CET
They're separate miniblocks, but part of the same block as far as all formats are concerned. Also, they're over the same story and world so it makes sense.
by gypsy on 2008-04-28 21:21 CET
theyre opposites of the same block. lorwyn was all nice and sunny shadowmoor was all dark and gloomy

Ugh, i lost to the third place deck in the fourth round because my internet died on me game 1 after i had almost complete control of the game. I was playing tog with a bunch of mana, cards in hand and life and my internet dies out on me. I win g2 and then lose in g3 to the demonfire (only a 2 of, wow) because i had to use a big scrying to dig for the tog + upheaval to try and finish the round in time.
by Eldariel on 2008-04-28 22:20 CET
Yea, this gives a bit wrong image of the format. I'll try to finish my article some time soon.

by Azalin on 2008-08-01 05:53 CET
Hrm, no recurring nightmare in the survival deck?
