Updates to Calendar + Invitationals
Written by taker3 on February 27, 2018
HI, I don't like intros soo….
Part 1: The New Calander
It's hard to try to make sure that all formats are properly-represented all the time. It’s because of this that we made a plan for the schedule. Mondays being one of our most popular days, we wanted to appeal to the largest group and the most popular format; Modern. So every Monday will have a Modern event. We plan on having a wide variety of formats with the most popular ones showing up more frequently. After this month we will take suggestions on which formats you would like to see as Trials. The less-popular formats will still try to be put in the schedule at least once if it can fit. With Friday Night Magic(FNM) being popular among players, we plan on not having any big events on Fridays for the foreseeable future so they can still participate in these events. To make up for not having a event on Friday, on either Thursday or Saturday there will be 2 events scheduled: one in the morning, and one in the evening. We plan on doing Masters every second and last week of the month. To prepare people for the master we are going to schedule the format of the master more than any other in the weeks before it.
Part 2: Invitationals With the popularity of the last master, we feel comfortable we will be able to bring back invitationals(which were intended to be a mainstay of Magic-League from the beginning). Invitationals will be swiss tournaments, just like it’s sister the Master, but will be far more exclusive with no promises of byes. The invitational will ONLY be open to those who have properly qualified through the means below. Prize support will be heavier than the Master due to this exclusivity.
Part 3: Invites
We determined the best way to invite people would be the following:
1. Top team
2. Top 4 in all 4 rating categories
3. Top 8 in Masters
4. 1st/2nd place in all Qualifiers.
The qualifiers will be a 4 part series of scheduled tournaments in a month(Modern, Standard, Legacy, and a format vote on by you guys). The qualifiers will be single elimination, open to anyone. On March 26th, March 27th, March 28th, and March 29th, we will host March's Qualifiers with the Invitational being held on March 31st. Starting in April and moving forward, Qualifiers will be placed randomly around the schedule rather than being right in a row.
We hope for your suggestions and feedback on the new calendar policy, and best of luck to all in the tournaments to come. ~Taker0033 '_'
