Today, I had the honor of interviewing Dev, a highly ranked player who has placed highly in the past 2 Masters.

1. Please introduce your self and where you are from.

<Dev> My name is Ryan Thomas, I am 19, and I am from Chattanooga, TN(about 1 hour from Atlanta, GA)


2. How long have you been playing in magic-league and how did you discover the league?

<Dev> Not sure the exact month, but it was right before darksteel
<Dev> I was playing on modo at the time and DF_Newbie pasted me a link to decklists from here
<Dev> and i decided to play it since modo is so costly to draft
And what keeps you coming back? Is it the playtesting opportunities? The people? Me? Tell the truth
<Dev> Clearly you being dead sexy. Hmmn, I like the people kinda. It is a nice community and a chance to test stuff. The decks aren't always what you would expect but there are some good players here too.


3. So, who are the three best? Who do you say "Ohh, crap!" when you are paired agaisnt them in a tournament?

<Dev> Hmmn, I always hate playing MW|Core, I don't think I have ever beaten him :(
<Dev> Roelof and Thalai always do well in things, of course Dev>all :)


4. What is your favorite format and why?

<Dev> 1.5 because you still get a lot of broken spells, but nothing too devastating and no stupid starts like in T1. T1 use to be my favorite but it has become where random noobs can win just by drawing workshop and trinisphere turn1.


5. Do you play magic in realf life? If so, what is your DCI ranking? How does this compare to your Online Rating/Ranking?

<Dev> Yes. It is about 1850, not the best but atleast I get a round1 bye :( My online is 5th in vintage and not so good in constructed atm, like 1777 but that will change soon as I play more T2 instead of 1.X


6. Who would you most like to meet in real life from M-L?

<Dev> Roelof, pG, Jenneke and a certain other person so he can't whine when he loses :P


8. How do you feel about the league right now? Do you like the new Masters invitation policy? Why or why not?

<Dev> Yea I like. Most people who Q play decks that are actually viable instead of random garbage so its better testing. That and I don't have to explain basics of play to people like I use to. I played a guy who didn't know what the stack is once :(


9. Is there anything you would change about Magic-League?

<Dev> I would shoot people who play life.dec....hmmn seriously though, the only thing I can think of would be to invite the top8 from the last master automatically to the next and change 16+ rating invites to 8+


10. So, can we expect a big season from you and your team in the team division this time around?

<Dev> My first season here I was with cabong and we finished first, I would like to repeat that :) We have quite a few good players this time around and I think we can definitely do it. Got off to a slow start and it cheated me out of team points for a mini I won, but we will get there.
