| I have been testing variations of Bucher and Chapin's lists, and Kithkin does not seem like much trouble apart from dealing with Forge-tender, but I cannot consistently beat Faeries AT ALL. What's the best strategy for this deck to beat Faeries, besides main decking 4 Cloudthreshers? Is Raking Canopy in the side worth it? Should Oblivion Rings be in the main just to deal with Blossom? I have no idea how to get an edge in this matchup.. |

| hey, from my block testing, faeries MU vs. 5c control is HORRIBLE. with maindeck firespout and cloudthreshers, and don't forget about primal command. basically the only threat in faeries that 5c has a lot of trouble with is mistbind clique, well, and the 2nd turn bitterblossom (but what deck doesn't have trouble with that?). 5c just has to make it to the late-game and all their spells become better than faerie's spells. maindeck firespout, threshers, primal command and u'll be fine |

| i dont have chapins list but i havent had any trouble beating faeries with buchers list. kithkin is actually a lot harder to beat then faeries. mannequin thresher firespout plus your own counters, faeries doesnt have visions to stay way ahead of you and spellstutter sprite isnt very good vs u so they dont have many more counters to beat you |

ya...not having terror or visions hurts faeries a bit vs. decks like this....
eot evoke thresher: counter
main phase guy u can't deal with.
game 2 they may have consign to dream to make sticking threats a little harder.
also, twilight shepherd is REALLY good.
that is all. |

My problem in the 5CC versus Faeries match has always been something like this:
EOT: Evoke Cloudthresher, countered by Broken Ambitions
Main Phase: Play Firespout, countered by Spellstutter Sprite
So, I have found it more effective to delay playing certain spells until I can cast two of them in my mainphase. This doesn't really work if they are beating you down with Clique.
I have found an advantage in being on the play, too. That way if the Faeries player casts Clique during your upkeep on your 5th turn, you can evoke Thresher in response, killing their champion creatures, which makes them remove Bitterblossom (usually) or just sac the Clique. The better players don't really fall for that, and they just wait to play the Clique.
Firespout is also really suboptimal because it's a sorcery, but it's the best you've got. I usually save inversions for Mutavaults.
The matchup is not good, but it's doable. Probably like 40/60 or 45/55.
Also, could someone please post Chapin's list for those of us who are too cheap to buy premium? Thanks. |
