Hey, anyone want to help me test this deck?
// Deck file for Magic Workstation (http://www.magicworkstation.com)
// Lands
1 [SHM] Mystic Gate
4 [LRW] Vivid Creek
1 [SHM] Swamp (4)
1 [SHM] Mountain (4)
5 [10E] Island (2)
2 [LRW] Vivid Crag
2 [FUT] Graven Cairns
4 [10E] Shivan Reef
1 [PLC] Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
4 [SHM] Reflecting Pool
// Creatures
4 [TSP] Greater Gargadon
4 [TSP] Mogg War Marshal
2 [TSP] Riftwing Cloudskate
4 [LRW] Mulldrifter
3 [LRW] Sower of Temptation
2 [SHM] Murderous Redcap
2 [10E] Siege-Gang Commander
3 [LRW] Shriekmaw
1 [PLC] Body Double
2 [MOR] Reveillark
// Spells
4 [LRW] Makeshift Mannequin
4 [CS] Coldsteel Heart
It's a cipca deck (come-into-play card advantage) using Makeshift Mannequin and Greater Gargadon. The singleton Body Double may allow a Reveillark combo once in a while. I want to know if I should increase that number to i.e 2, to increase the chance of going off. Against Magus of the Moon 2 Murderous Redcap main (and 2 side?) as well as the other red spells should be helpful.
The mana has been fine so far, but maybe a need for more red.
I think it got potential, but I cannot possibly test it enough alone. So feel free to try it out and tell me what you think. Untested suggestions are also welcome, of course. |

| You seem to have the mana for it, so why not add some Momentary Blinks? |

| Maybe one - for 1 Mannequin. The manabase can't handle too many white and black cards. |

| Why not make it a URW blink riders type strategy that splashes black with mannequins as extra uses of all your 187 guys? |

Because land destruction cannot be a main strategy. The "3 lands which gives RW and U + Coldsteel Heart + Avalanche Riders + Momentary Blink" combo happens 1/500 games. Blink riders was a half-decent deck for a couple of months a while ago, and has been gone for a good reason since. With no signets, Remand and Lightning Helix the deck is dead - no reason to resurrect it.
So far the deck has worked fine. Won against Merfolk quite easily; one unfinished game against BG control because I had missed out on having Reveillark combo available for quite a few turns; won against slivers, lost 1-2 against Kithkin but won the following two games.
Against Kithkin it seems I need more early creature control; if they start well with Stalwart and W.C/Knight and I don't have Coldsteel Heart out turn 2, it is quickly over. Once I have used Shriekmaw or Murderous Redcap a couple of times, the game is stabilized and I should be winning. |

I understand this is a tempo deck. How about swaping one Sower for one Venser? The card power is about the same and can swing the game in your favor.
Have you thought about the sideboard at all? It would seem that Nameless Inversion or Firespout would help your chances vs small guy swarms. |

I am looking into what I need. Firespout seems a sure spot against kithkin and elves. I am not sure Nameless Inversion is a good sideboard card, though. It is good in main as it is a good general creature kill card, but in side one would normally want something more specific. Like Terror, Slaughter Pact or Deathmark.
I may try Fulminator Mage and Avalanche Riders in sideboard against QnT and Revcombo. |
