Im going to PT: LA and im going to play in the ptq's That will be hosted there over that weekend... So I started brainstorming up some kind of Control deck in order to overcome the mass field of aggro that the Lorwyn and Shadowmoor blocks are bound to create.

Just brainstormed for about one day and this is what i've come up with so far... 5 color Control!

There are a couple of cards i would still like to somehow squeeze in the maindeck and sb. Oversoul of Dusk and Garruk Wildspeaker are both really strong and i was thinking about removing the Thoughtseize's but I really like Thoughtseize and removing whatever threat you dont want to see hit
the board.

And as for the sideboard I really like the cards mind shatter, raking canopy and runed halo.

Please let me know what you think. Good and bad opinions are welcome. Thanks for the help.

P.s. If your going to Pro Tour: LA let me know, cause im staying at the Hyatt the whole weekend and would like to play test.

Sinse Jacois created 1/2 the cards in your deck, you should listen to him. Also, when you consider that he is the best deckbuilder on magic-league, I think taking his advise is imperative.

Please let me have your babies.

I think you could cut this to a BG deck that would work just fine...

The problem is, your not taking a real advantage out of 5 colors. Why play 5 colors without a huge advantage? Also if you want to play a real control deck, you got to beat faeries, which isnt easy as we all know from t2. The biggest problem is that faeries doesnt even lose a lot from the current t2 builds(i guess they cant play runesnag...). So you want to be control, not faeries and original? The only way i could see a control deck work, is a elemental control build that can also work as an agressive deck. Lets call it an aggro/control deck Razz The problem will remain faeries for controlish builds and a good way to beat faeries, is to put a lot of presure on them. Cards like festercreep, could also help(as a 1 of to search it up). Cloudthreser also happens to be an elemental, eyes of the wisent is too. So yea there could be an elemental aggro controlish deck, but thats not easy to do. Anyway gl with whatever deck your trying to make.

Really what you need to do, is go through the block and find the best cards. Like KeySam said, you're not takin full advantage of the best cards. IF you're goin to be five color with a shaky mana base, you need all the power you can get to power you and push you out of shaky mana draws.

Basically play 8 mana fixers, and then 4 of all the best cards with sum support cards.

Meaning, spout, thresher, colossus, shirekmaw, nameless. Mostly BG with splashes in W for oring, command and mare in board, R for spout, and U for drifter. i think you could go just 4 color, takin out the W making it much more consistent. Also, take out seize, its not that great with most of the field being aggro and its a free shock, for the opp. i'd say board it if you feel hellbent on runnin it

faeries becomes much worse in block than in t2 and i dont think it will be the format defining deck. your deck seems weak as there is so much removal in block and while your a control deck you have very few threats, i think you need to play many more creatures and maybe cut a colour or two

lol at faeries becoming much worse in block. It's still the best deck and I think it's even better in block then in t2 because although it loses ancestral vision, rune snag and faerie conclave, it has ponder and broken ambitions to replace the first too. And the good part is that the number of instant cards that kill faeries is reduced to cloudtresher. Then you also have firesprout which is a very good card but it hurts kithins and elves more than faeries. Raking Canopy is a bit annoying but not devastating because you can bounce it eot and swing ftww

http://www.deckcheck.net/event.php?event=GPT+Birmingham+2008+-+Porto

I placed 2nd in this GPT. Too bad my oona failed to reveal more than 1 blue card with X=5. I needed 1 more faerie to be able to survive one more turn and then I would have taken control of the match.

Check the other GPTs. Faeries was the best deck once again although some lists are bad.

Im not much for block, but Familiar's Ruse may replace Rune Snag in Fae. I know the "return a creature" may be a hinderance in most decks, but being able to bounce a Spellstutter or Pestermite or even Mistbind Clique has to have some potential.

Ruse is decent as a 2of in faeries but it doesn't counter blossom on your 2nd turn nor it counters colossos when they play it on their 3rd turn on the play. Broken Ambitions is better.

here's a much better angle to take a multi-color control deck for the format:

Elemental Control by Gerry Thompson

4 Smokebraider
4 Mulldrifter
4 Cloudthresher
4 Spitebellows
1 Wispmare
1 Shriekmaw
1 Kitchen Finks

4 Makeshift Mannequin
4 Nameless Inversion
4 Firespout
3 Primal Command

2 Mountain
1 Swamp
4 Fire-lit Thicket
4 Graven Cairns
4 Primal Beyond
4 Reflecting Pool
4 Vivid Crag
3 Vivid Marsh

Sideboard:
4 Chameleon Colossus
4 Fulminator Mage
3 Kitchen Finks
1 Wispmare
3 Oblivion Ring

all things aside, this list and angle just seems leagues ahead of yours in terms of power and strategy.

How do you fetch those 1ofs? I think the usual elementals lists are better.

im still gonna work on my other list though.. more threshers and firespout to get a better matchup vs faeries.
