Can you direct damage dealt to a player by the rack to a plainswalker?

I think I know what you meant, but be careful, Clatanoff. Basically, if the card says "Damage", you can redirect it from your opponent to his planeswalker. If the card says "Loses x life", it can't be redirected.

Here's the rule:
The Rules wrote:
212.9g If noncombat damage would be dealt to a player by a source controlled by an opponent, that opponent may have that source deal that damage to a planeswalker the first player controls instead. This is a redirection effect (see rule 419.6c) and is subject to the normal rules for ordering replacement effects (see rule 419.9). The opponent chooses whether to redirect the damage as the redirection effect is applied.

The real nitpicky answer to Sven's original question is technically no; you CAN redirect Rack damage from your opponent to his planeswalker, but you CANNOT direct the damage to the planeswalker to start with. This means two things:

1) The planeswalker is never targeted.
2) For timing purposes, you use the rules for replacement effects.

Among other things, this means that you can't hurt your opponent or his planeswalker with The Rack if he uses Circle of Protection: Artifact.
