Some of you may remember seeing this deck once last year. Well I loved the idea of it back then so i decided to see if i could bring it back to life some how. After about 5 beers the deck started to take form again and once i was good and drunk it seemed pretty good. Of course after sobering up i decided to take out the random junk and add things like vindicate and lightning helix. well here it is tell me what you think.
/ Lands
1 [UNH] Forest
4 [ON] Polluted Delta
3 [ON] Windswept Heath
3 [ON] Wooded Foothills
1 [DIS] Breeding Pool
1 [RAV] Overgrown Tomb
1 [GP] Godless Shrine
1 [RAV] Sacred Foundry
1 [RAV] Temple Garden
1 [TE] Swamp (4)
1 [6E] Plains (1)
1 [GP] Steam Vents
1 [PT] Island (4)
1 [ON] Flooded Strand
// Creatures
4 [FUT] Tarmogoyf
4 [RAV] Dark Confidant
4 [RAV] Birds of Paradise
3 [B] Llanowar Elves
3 [RAV] Loxodon Hierarch
3 [PS] Meddling Mage
// Spells
3 [IN] Armadillo Cloak
4 [JU] Living Wish
4 [AP] Vindicate
4 [RAV] Lightning Helix
3 [BOK] Umezawa's Jitte
// Sideboard
SB: 1 [TSP] Harmonic Sliver
SB: 1 [PS] Flametongue Kavu
SB: 4 [JU] Phantom Centaur
SB: 1 [ON] Dwarven Blastminer
SB: 1 [PS] Meddling Mage
SB: 4 [US] Duress
SB: 3 [JU] Cabal Therapy
Your aggro matchup is almost un-losable with all the life gaining and your control matchup is pretty good with living wish and the meddling mages. Well check it out and tell me what you think |

i highly doubt that ur aggro matchup is unlosable bc u take so much damage off ur lands that the lifegain doesnt rly do anything

Well i think the aggro matchup should be pretty good lenin. there are many problem cards for aggro like armadillo cloak jitte hierarch. But i dont see any way how you win vs combo or control. You play 0 discards 0 counters.... 4 meddling mage is just not enough to stop the control/combo decks. After siding it maybe gets better but still... And i dont think the wish sideboard helps alot you dont do tricky enough stuff for Living wish, well thats just my oppinion.

i never said the aggo matchup wasnt good i said it wasnt unwinnable bc there is no matchup that is unlosable, but u have to realise that taking so much damage off lands is gonna add up even if ur gaining life

Very true lennin. Infact originally i did not have any basic lands thats why they are in there now. and that island needs to be changend to a mountain for sure and the sac lands looked over again. Also the meddling mages seem to buy me enough time in the combo matchups but control has too many answers.The living wishes are also becoming bothersome. They seem to get into the way. mainly because i don't like having to wait to find the answers. so what about swapping living wish for duress? and reworking the sideboard? or maybe just putting a few more tricks in the board. any suggestions for either of those will be appreciated.

this deck reminds me off king of the castle, im not sure if confidant is rly that good in ur deck, u seem to take a lot of damage off of it and ive been dying off my confidants in ext for a while everytime i play one it seems to kill me but i think u should replace those and the living wishes with a trinket mage package with needle, top explosives etc, that seems like it would fill the slots of wish and bob perfectly

I had the trinket mage package in there for a while but i really didn't feel that it was much use. the dark confidants really help out in the control matchups but they do hurt when you hit hierarchs. I think it matters which version of the deck you more comfortable with. i just felt that anything that could be handled with the trinket mage combo gould be handled with the wishes.

Trinket, Top, and fetch lands all have great synergy with Dark Confidant. I see almost no reason not to run that if your mana can suport it.

so this is what the build looks like right now. and it seems to be pretty consistent.
// Lands
1 [UNH] Forest
3 [ON] Polluted Delta
3 [ON] Windswept Heath
4 [ON] Wooded Foothills
1 [DIS] Breeding Pool
1 [RAV] Overgrown Tomb
1 [GP] Godless Shrine
1 [RAV] Sacred Foundry
1 [RAV] Temple Garden
1 [TE] Swamp (4)
1 [6E] Plains (1)
1 [GP] Steam Vents
1 [MM] Mountain (1)
// Creatures
4 [FUT] Tarmogoyf
4 [RAV] Dark Confidant
4 [RAV] Birds of Paradise
4 [B] Llanowar Elves
3 [RAV] Loxodon Hierarch
3 [FD] Trinket Mage
// Spells
4 [AP] Vindicate
4 [RAV] Lightning Helix
3 [BOK] Umezawa's Jitte
1 [CHK] Sensei's Divining Top
1 [10E] Pithing Needle
1 [FD] Engineered Explosives
4 [US] Duress
// Sideboard
SB: 4 [PS] Meddling Mage
SB: 3 [JU] Cabal Therapy
SB: 4 [OD] Mystic Enforcer
SB: 3 [IN] Armadillo Cloak
SB: 1 [CH] Tormod's Crypt
Duress seems SUPER synergistic with Tarmogoyf and i really want to find a way to work Meddling Mage back into the main deck. Also I'd like to find a place for 2 living wishes..Any Suggestions?? |

Your right it does seem REALLY bad but it is a creature to fuel the jittes. But chrome mox would allow some sick turn 1 darck confidants. I'd like to replace the elves with something though preferably a creature maybe the meddling mages in there?? now that i have duress in the main that may be a really nice tech
