Hey everyone,

On August 30, a man named Kenneth Foster is scheduled to die by lethal injection in the state of Texas for simply being present at the scene of a murder. He was in a car 100 yards away when an acquaintance shot another man dead. However, Texas law allows for the death penalty to be applied against a person judged to be an accomplice in a crime, even if that person took absolutely no part in it. Its a controversial issue called "the law of parties."

Regardless, this man will be put to death for basically a non-crime. Please take the time to do something to help:

They have a form on the website there where you can write to the Texas State Legislature asking to have his execution stayed.

Pass this along. Let's do something to stop this injustice.

Thanks

Yeah he shouldn't die but he is hardly innocent.
Long story short on what happened...
Said guy and his friends rode around all day smoking weed and robbing people at gunpoint, this guy was the getaway driver.
Guy with gun jumps out of the car and asks some girl for her phone number, her boyfriend walks up and gets smoked while Foster is waiting in the car.
Texas takes him to court on murder charges on this law that exists basically everywhere in the US that says if you are accessory to a crime in which someone gets killed you are guilty of murder (kinda gets wierd at times, like if me and you jump through a window to rob a house and you get shot by the homeowner I get charged with murder).
So yeah he shouldn't die, the trial was kinda fucked, but at the same time if he hadn't been like "Yo, I'll drive you jump out and rob people, bring the gun", he'd be cool. Moral of the story, don't do dumb shit, Texas sucks, the death penalty is more power than anyone should have. Oh yeah that reminds me I have jury duty next week in district court.

Your use of the word 'innocent' is a bit much, isn't it?

The penalty sucks. I agree.

Here's a tip: Don't do crime in areas where the law will pwn you. That's kind of the point of harsh punishments to begin with.

Yea, he really did a "Non-crime." The best part was where you left out all the important information, like what he -actually- did. He is just as guilty as the guy who did the shooting! If they were together all day and developed the plan together, then they wud each be guilty for the "robbery." If it all goes wrong, and someone gets shot, it might have been an accident, but the shooter also didnt mean to shoot him if it really was an =accident=. Does that mean he is also innocent? hell no. The driver get's what the shooter gets because they both had the same intentions, and each were obviously willing to kill to rob them if they decided to bring a loaded gun. It isn't even a random thing if they had been doing it multiple times all day. They knew what they were getting into, they knew it was wrong, and they should be willing to face the punishment the law gives out if they are stupid enough to do it.

At the very least change your post subject, because it is highly misleading. If you're gunna try to do some big "Justice" by getting his punishment stayed, lay down all the facts instead of some preachy biased "dont let an innocent man die" thing. That way if people decide they don't want to kill him, then it is informed and actually the right thing to do.

At the very least this is a death-penalty debate, because the man is definitely as guilty as the other guy.

If you've read anything about the case at all you'd have noticed that two federal courts declared that the Texas court got the sentance wrong but that they have no jurisdiction over the case so its up to the texans to decide. So it went to a higher court in Texas, where it was ruled that, even though the judges on the higher court felt that the punishment most certainly did not fit the crime, they had no real power to overturn his sentancing.

Also all evidence (even in court) suggests tht the murder was not premeditated in anyway and was the direct result of a confrontation the murder and the victim had immediately preceeding the incident. Therefore, there was no way he can be associated with committing the murder. You can make an arguement that his driving the vehicle makes him a criminal in his own right, but this in no way should make him liable to be put to death.
