| There is a similaR THing between DukeNukem Forever and the next Master. They are always reported to another date! I'm just curius about what will happen with all byes? I did a small calcul and if all trial were win by a different person each time, about 60 people will have a bye in the next master. |

Who cares? The first 2 rounds are so easy that there's no need for byes. Actually, if i got any byes, i'd wamt to use them round 3 and 4, but i cant. Dammit. |

For an ideal situation, suppose you have a tourney with 128 people.
Round 1: 128 people
Round 2: 64 people
Round 3: 32 people
Round 4: 16 people
Round 5: 8 people
The chances of you playing someone bad is much higher in the first two rounds. Once you hit the 32 mark the bad players are normally few and far between, which means tougher competition for you.
The nonideal works very similarly but the math isn't as simple. |

That is true, but the algorithm tries to match people with a similar amount of points. In R2, all the winners of r1 face each other, and all the losers face each other. The only complication is when there's odd numbers on either side.
Basically, if you continue to win rounds, you continue to face winners. There are corner cases, and towards the end it gets wierd cause of draws, but the basic idea holds true.
Even if you are a loser, in the later rounds you still usually face better players because of drops. |
