I and some other MLers have been working on Wild Pair decks, and I have two rules questions. Please only answer if you are a judge or can cite the rule, because I don't want players to be misinformed. But if you're a troll, you probably don't care about requests like that, so I've jsut wasted my time.
Anyway:
1) When Triskelabus comes into play, does it trigger Wild Pair for a 1/1 or a 4/4? Because they both say "when," can you stack it for either another 1/1 or another 4/4?
2) Is there time to return one of the Ravinca guild creatures like Crypt Champion before it goes to the GY? Can I do the following:
Cast Crypt Champion, getting Whitemane Lion with Wild Pair (or trigger Wild Pair with White Mane Lion), putting The Champion's ability on the stack, targetting a 3cc or less creature in my GY;
Resolve Whitemane Lion's "gating" ability;
Trigger Wild Pair with Whitemane Lion for a Riftwing Cloudskate;
Put on the stack and resolve the Cloudskate's CIP ability, targetting Crypt Champion;
Return the Crypt Champion to my hand;
Resolve the Crypt Champion's CIP ability, and put a 3cc or less creature into play from my Graveyard.
3) Alternatively, can I cast Crypt Champion, put Whitemane Lion into play (either with the Champ or with Wild Pair), and return the Crypt Champion with the Lion to my hand to use him again? I assume that because you can target him with Saffi or any other instant, you just have to put the effects on the stack in the right order?
This was needlessly complicated, but I want to make sure I have the steps right. |

I'll confirm Ggerg's answers one by one, I'm not a judge but I've asked all three of these questions before of a judge, so I know why they work.
Triskelavus will trigger Wild Pair for eight. The coming into play with counters is not a triggered ability, but rather a static ability. It just happens when the creature comes into play without using the stack. Similarly, when Pride of the Clouds comes into play, you can't choose to stack Wild Pair to get a 1/1 if there are other flying creatures in play, as it comes into play with the larger power/toughness combination.
The second will work if you stack things in the following order:
A: Play Crypt Champion. Put the Sacrifice effect on the stack. Put the Graveyard Retrieval effect on the stack. Put the Wild Pair trigger on the stack.
THE STACK (which resolves top-down):
Wild Pair Trigger
Graveyard Retrieval
Sacrifice
B: Let the Wild Pair Trigger resolve, getting Whitemane Lion. Lion ability goes on the stack. Target itself.
THE STACK
Whitemane Trigger
Graveyard Retrieval
Sacrifice
C: Replay Whitemane Lion. Put the return to hand effect on the stack. Put the Wild Pair trigger on the stack.
THE STACK
Wild Pair
Whitemane Trigger
Graveyard Retrieval
Sacrifice
D: Let the wild pair trigger resolve, getting Riftwing Cloudskate. Target the Crypt Champion.
THE STACK
Cloudskate Trigger
Whitemane Trigger
Graveyard Retrieval
Sacrifice
E: Let the stack resolve, and you'll have Riftwing in play and both Crypt Champion and Whitemane in your hand, with a creature back from your graveyard.
The third question works if at step B, you target the Crypt Champion instead of the Whitemane Lion itself. |

| If you reanimate a Whiteman via Champion, it won't trigger Wild Pair 'cause you didn't play it from your hand. |

Thorns: You return the Whitemane with the Champion, Return the Lion to your hand, and replay the Lion, then return the Crypt Champion with the replayed Lion. It's a Resurrection with buyback, sorta. It's important if you need to get back both dead Warden and a Dead Saffi, and have the Champion and not the Wild Pair to just search out more combo pieces. |
