Before I get told by a moderator that my concerns should be privately reviewed by staff via an email, I would just like to state that I have chosen this aforementioned forum for group discussion on the ramifications and reasonings of locking threads.

These forums are for discussion amongst Magic-League players on a variety of topics and we enjoy hard-working moderators who constantly stop spam and very terrible things from staying on the boards for too long. Also, we experience a constant locking of threads whenever someone is overly critical of a Magic-League staff member or player. We understand these to be private matters only to be discussed by the parties involved and any moderators trying to help resolve the problem as easy as possible.

The problem with this is the tact that is taken by most people. It would seem the majority of people just want to incite a flame war and gather people to their side of the arguement in a feeble attempt to feel better and more secure about the choice they decided to make.

The discussion I wish to pose before you is this, "Do you feel that Magic-League forum moderators are always justified in their actions of locking and/or deleting threads?"

For discussion sake, please include links to threads you feel were unjustly locked or threads you feel needed to be locked.

If they edit the first post with some kind of explanation as to why it's locked (even an 'email nico' suffices, as futile a suggestion as that is being that nico is an evil drooling retard who loves to tear the wings off of flies) then I don't see a problem with it. I had a post a while back that was locked with no justification and it was basically asking why I was banned from judges4you... the best they could give was a reason, even if it was horribly flawed, yet they couldn't give that either. It took a few days before I was unbanned and able to get rulings and such but still.. they locked the thread without saying ANYTHING

you're only the 6,000th person to get their thread locked and make a new post complaining about it. just shut up.

ban.

honestly, don't let people who concently flame post and less threads get locked. look at scgs or manadrain dorks get the ax.
don't have something usefull to say. shut up and read till a actual thought enters your head.

Complaining about moderators here on this forum is ridiculous. Most of the serious forums I go to (like TMD or the italian Vintage TheAbyss) would ban at interrupt-speed most of the users here on the forum. I think the policy here is more relaxed just because otherwise half of the users would be quickly banned, and the moderator should take this as a full-time job (they are not payed for it, you know?).

Magic-League is extremely relaxed with their ban/locks. Just compare it to the MTGSalvation forums, this sort of thread would of been locked and you banned in a matter of seconds.
ML is a free league, so be happy someone had the great idea of starting it, otherwise you wouldn't be here.
And as said previously, if you have a problem with a moderator, judge or peer, contact them privately and solve the problem without involving half the league.

Okay, I guess you cats get the wrong impression. First off, it is very assuming of you to go ahead and guess that I had a locked thread and I made this thread to bitch about it, which is not the case. I just wanted to spark up a lively discussion about a topic we can all relate to.

I personally think that unless what is posted on the forums is illegal, eg. Porn which violates community standards, then a thread should not be locked. To do so otherwise limits a person's freedom of speech, even if what the type is usually libel...

A forum is not a democracy. Locking/Moving/Editing threads which are outside the aim of the site is nothing but right (unless they are in an off topic section, for example). On the other hand, locking, deleting, banning users which just make stupid posts which in no way improve the quality of the forum is a common behavior in any healthy forum I know: it's a good way to make an example for everyone else, and to avoid spamming & trolling. Otherwise, which would be the role of a moderator? Their work is mainly "educating" the users and teach them to think before posting useless threads/posts. This is something which is even rarely done on this site: just look at the comments in the deck sections... ridiculous... they really don't give any help; look at themanadrain.com and learn what a deck discussion is. So, this forum would really need a higher level of moderation, and you ask about even a lesser one? Non sense.
