|
|
I've been decktesting Extended a lot and need help improving my Boros Deck Wins. My parents banned me from using Apprentice/MWS on weekdays due to the starting of school so I decided to come to the forums. Here's my list:
3 Snow-covered Mountain
4 Snow-covered Plains
4 Sacred Foundry
2 Flooded Strand
2 Windswept Heath
3 Wooded Foothills
2 Bloodstained Mire
3 Isamaru, Hound of Konda
4 Grim Lavamancer
4 Jotun Grunt
4 Savannah Lions
4 Goblin Legionnare
2 Pillage
4 Lightning Helix
4 Molten Rain
4 Lava Dart
4 Firebolt
3 Magma Jet
SB
4 Silver Knight
3 Kataki, War's Wage
3 Genju of the Spires
3 Pithing Needle
2 Gelid Shackles
I don't run Fledglings because I've found Genju's to do much better against control.
I feel my deck has a strong game against Aggro Loam/Gifts Rock, Tog and due to Jotun Grunt if I get to draw him. He's really too underplayed in this meta and is good against almost every single deck. The silver's and white's help in the mirror/the Rock and the Needles against the Rock and No-stick. Any additional suggestions or tech would be helpful

You mana base looks a little funny to me, but I've never tried it so if it works keep it.
I would definitely play with 4 Savannah Lions in the main. It makes the deck much more aggressive and faster. |

| Sry, was Wooded Foothills. A couple people have suggested Savannah Lions. What should I take out for them? Legionnares? |

| Sorry Spyx but I've found Jotun Grunt to be uber in this Meta. It steals Loam from Aggro Loam, therapy's from black decks, combos from Gifts Rock and cards from Tog. It really is quite ridiculous, and usually I can get one or two attacks in the red zone meaning 4 damage for 1W. |

you didnt really mention how he works well with your fetchlands and cheap spells and how his 4/4 body rocks almost every creature but yeah your on the right track. remember to make the right decision when choosing beetween his ability and that ability of your nice grim lavamancer there.
also you need 4 lions 4 isamaru 4 lavamancer. or atleast 11 of those nice 1 drops. it makes the deck really really really really good. |

I don't think the Legendary lands are neccessary (they don't do much anyways and I run shackles SB)
Also, I'm really conflicted about Goblin Legionnare and Savannah Lions. I really don't know what to take out for them. The knights would probably be the best choice, but the Knights are too damn good against the right decks and I have no sideboard room. The Shackles are my only good big creature removal and I'm hesitant to take them out.
Pillage is too key against control/mirror to take out. Molten Rain is even better and Lava Dart and Firebolt have been solid. (esp Lava Dart) |

silver knight is better in more match-ups than white, most decks running black have ways of killing white knight in other ways (deed for example) silver knight is just better, check any successful decklist. 4 lions is a must.
-3 white knight
-1 jotun grunt
-1 grim lavamancer (simply because they are competing with the grunt)
+4 sav lions
+1 silver knight
in board
-1 silver knight
-1 white knight
-4 shackels
+1 jotun grunt
+3 disenchant
+1 needle
+1 kataki

| Shackles isn't bad, because one of the major weaknesses of Boros are 4+ toughness creatures. The only way to kill those is Char (which I'm thinking of taking out) or multiple burn, which results in card disadvantage. Synch, I realized you're right about the White Knights, even against black Edict's and Deeds take them out so I agree with most of what you said, however Grim Lavamancer and Jotun Grunt are far better than Lions imo. I'm really against their 'puny' one toughness, it just seems like a large factor for me. I need help sticking in Goblin Legionnares as well. I used to run disenchant, but they really aren't that helpful because Pithing Needle does it's job much better (against Deed/Equipment's and Scepter). |
