Well I can't decide if I'm excited about Goblins being so resiliant to hate (because my cheap ass has a RL Gob Deck for Legacy) or if I'm dissapointed that a (relatively) simple aggro deck is so good in Legacy. But either way, I was going to post a question asking if a finally reasonable number of goblins in the tournament would equal a top X in the tourney. I didn't post, but it did equal a Win.

So the question is, can anyone really say that Goblin's isn't the best deck in the format? The only other contenders are Gro (threshhold) and maybe Solidarity (can someone explain where this name came from?). And they are really considered Tier 1 Because of their games against Goblins.

Edit: Bonus Question. Faerie Stompie, a deck many consider Tier one if not for the rarity of Sea Drakes, had as many players as Goblins. This is theoretically a "tech" or "meta-gamed" deck with it's turn one Chalice for one. It placed one deck in the top 8, none in the top 4. Is this just a rogue deck that is subpar without it's surpirise factor? Or am I just a hater to read one in the top 8 as a dissapointing finish?

Well, I played FS and I lost round 4 to timing issues -.- (and opponent topdecking 2 FoWs in his 7 cards when I have Chalice at 1 and 2, a Serendib Efreet and a stolen Werebear in play, he had a Nimble Mongoose and a Worship, I get Thirst for Knowledge into Trinket Mage>Engineered Explosives, he's got the double FoW which is his only remaining legal spell to trump my single FoW, GG) I definately wouldn't count the deck out, it's one of the very few decks with actual game against the combo-decks in the format while maintaining a game against all the aggro- and control-decks (my 3 first matches were against Life, Belcher and Solidarity). You might notice how Goblins have consistently failed to perform in the past even with their relatively large numbers, and 0 (!!) of the 8 Threshold-decks made Top 4 in the trial where 3 FSs won. All in all, I wouldn't put very much weight into single elimination tournaments, just a bit of bad luck or a totally random bad match-up can drop you. Swiss tournaments give much more reliable data. Then there's the whole MWS-shuffler to take into account (in general, it makes combo-decks worse).
