it does shut down everything but im not sure if its better. it probably would be ill have to try it. it doesnt stop land abilities like fetch lands and vitu ghazi like field does.

i kind of like the idea of matrix because field doesnt stop everything just slows them down.

the reason it wasnt orginally running fetchlands cause if you read supression field it says activated abilities. fetch lands are all activates so it costs 2 and a life to activate ur fetch. im testing with damping matrix and fetch lands right now so that might make a diffrence.

shadowmage is decent but i like confidant more. it doesnt rely on the combat step and it gets the card if its still alive.

tog is good in a tog deck that doesnt run damping matrix or supression field. you realize you cant do it at all with matrix and you have to pay 2 every time you do something with tog with field. both cards are very nice verse tog. getting past there counterbase is the hard part. not to mention my deck doesnt have the cantrips or the other cards tog has. if i wanted to play tog i would play the deck tog. :/

you have NO way to fix your mana, fetchlands are nearly a must in this deck, three colors with no way to look for any of them. I'd flat out ditch the suppression fields, they are a good sideboard card, if that. fixing your mana so you can counter spells and destroy things is FAR more valuable then only slowing your opponet down for a turn or two. cutting the 'fields and a land, twenty three seems just to much for an aggro-ish control, and with draw, twenty two should be fine, that gives you three spaces to add the much needed fourth duress, one more mortify, and one more force spike, or, one duress and two mana leak.

for your mana, cut 4 painlands of your choice...actually, revamp your mana base to look something like this:

4 polluted delta
2 flooded strand
4 watery grave
4 hallowed fountain
2 godless shrine
3 island
2 swamp
1 plains

it's a far more stable mana base that you would probably eventually take less damage from, and helps thin the deck, so you always have the colors you need.

Damping Matrix does not shut down everything. It says creatures and artifacts. Suppression Field says all activated abilities. That includes fetchlands and so on. Rolling Eyes

i wasnt talking about stopping " everything" was reffering to the fact that damping matrix says you cant use them whatsoever and supression field says you can pay 2.

yes field affects cycling , land abilites so on but matrix does completely stop scepter effects, tog effects , lavamancer , legionnare , troll ascetic , arc slogger , triskelion , oblivion stone , mindslaver , etc instead of them just paying 2 to use it.

i liked supression field but it seems better for a mono colored or 2 color aggro deck that can afford to not use fetchlands. damping matrix serves its purpose in my deck fine Smile
