Satuday, April the 8th, a day that will live in irony.
On two hours of sleep, my team and I were sitting in front of our first opponents, the guys from DJ's Cards and Stuff.
I was playing a top end version of Grull Beats (not sligh, more like turn one ape or bird, turn two silhana or shaman, etc...), one parter running a Ghazi-Glare, and the other an Orzhov deck.
Round one, we saw a sligh version of zoo, whose highest card was a loxodon heirarch (which I summerily beat into the ground, poor kid, he was fun to play against though), a U/R Imminent Domain deck, and a B/G golgari deck.
We lost the round 1-2.
On to the next, a game against BW fatties, heartbeat, and boros deck wins.
I could keep going on here about this, but we finished the day at 4-3, placing 18th out of over 60 teams.
It was said to be one of the biggest PTQs NC has ever seen.
[ ironically enough, they prized out to 16th place ]
Lesson to learn here, no one knows about this secret called..."Play testing"
When you go to a tourny, please play-test your deck atleast once prior.
Case in point, one of my team mates had to help keep track of an opponent's mana count on a heartbeat deck. Granted my team mate won that game, but they wear 2-1 when we played them...... |

| How is this ironic? And are those the decks that are winning? When are we going to make another barbed sextant/deadly insect deck people? |

You guys got beat by team "Straight as a Rainbow"? That must really suck, but we were happy to make 18th, it showed that we had came a long way from where we once were, and ever step of improvement marks a new chapter of play level.
But you should be happy at your finish, true you did not get a chance to make the top 4, but still, you beat alot of other teams. Kudos to you mate! |

Daniel is a really great guy.
As for the hate of 5th place, so what? It could have been alot worse, but obviously you showed you had what it took to make it that far, you just lost to a few unlucky tie breakers.
So here is what you should do, go to the Richmond Qualifier, go to the LCQ at Charleston, if you don't make it then so what?
You should of had fun on this wild ass ride that we call the Pro Tour, and those memories will stick with you until the day you die. |
