How viable is TaN in the current Extended?
Just wondering, since it did pretty well at GP Charlotte. (3rd as played by Kyle Goodman)
Here's the list:
Main:
Tools:
3 Oblivion Stone
4 Sensei's Divining Top
3 Moment's Peace
2 Mindslaver
Creature box:
1 Darksteel Colossus
1 Sundering Titan
1 Triskelion
2 Eternal Witness
1 Mephidross Vampire
1 Kiki-jiki, Mirror Breaker
Win:
4 Tooth And Nail
Accel:
4 Sakura-tribe Elder
2 Talisman Of Unity
4 Reap And Sow
4 Sylvan Scrying
Land:
5 Forest
1 Tranquil Thicket
4 Urza's Mine
4 Urza's Power Plant
4 Urza's Tower
4 Windswept Heath
1 Boseiju, Who Shelters All
Sideboard:
1 Duplicant
1 Platinum Angel
1 Sundering Titan
1 Leonin Abunas
1 Moment's Peace
2 Naturalize
3 Orim's Chant
1 Mindslaver
3 Kataki, War's Wage
1 Plains
For those who don't know TaN, or Tooth and Nail:
It was a type 2 combo deck based on its namesake card (Tooth and Nail), as well as assembling Urzatron for the 7-9 mana necessary to wreck havoc with a Darksteel Collossus, Sundering Titan, Kiki-Jiki, Triskelion, and Mephidross Vampire......and others.
I mean, come on.........it has been doing grand online (MTGO)....
Well, comments......besides "tooth sucks"...
(or at least explain why you think tooh sucks) |

| i think its pretty good except for the fact that that unlike what you said is not a t2 "combo" deck it is a control deck. im tired of people saying its a combo deck. |

While certainly not a traditional X + Y combo deck, Tooth and Nail plays very much like a combo deck and in a metagame environment, it plays the role of a combo deck, which seeks to win as fast as possible and is beaten by either disruption or racing, with the latter difficult to accomplish.
The last incarnations of Tooth and Nail I remember seeing in Extended featured Living Wish. I don't know if that is still good enough, seeing as our successful decklist here doesn't utilize it. |

| Tooth and Nail is ok in extended, but considering how hard of a matchup ichorid is I wouldn't recommend it. Although I still think it is funny how it was affinity vs tooth and nail as a semi final matchup in charlotte. |

TaN does nothing controllish........jmo. Especially since all it does all game is ramp mana, moments peace, then go off.
Just because a Mindlslaver is there, doesn't mean its control.
Oh, and Duplicant is sided - sometimes it doesn't help vs Heartbeat and other creatureless concotions (in my meta). Plus, it did well at the GP as was. |

Meh i played TnN in t2...
it was a combo deck that usually played as a control deck until it could win unless it went off quick [ turn 3 or turn 4.. ]
Plow Under ( i love plow under ), Mindslaver or O Stone, reap and sow, and eternal witness lets it act as control when it needs too..
but it wins as a combo deck mostly |

| TaN does not ahve ichorid as a really bad matchup. moments peace helps a lot. elder blocks one of them. Mindslaver slows them down and removes an ichorid. Top helps stabalize vs cabal therapy. Its not a bad matcup its a decent match up which the TaN player likes since they cant do anything vs mephi trisk or blazing archon |

| Besides the luck that you will draw a trisk or duplicant (if added) you realy have no good way of dealing with say Meddling Mage except o-stone which aginst a deck that generaly runs Meddling Mage gets countered. Plus discard such as duress and cabal theropy spell trouble for TnN or TaN. |
