Better mana bases, skilled players win more, bad players win less.

modo prices != IRL prices.
also, I don't see how skilled players will simply win more with shocklands.

Sure, having a more stable manabase is fine, but you're ridiculous thinking that effects player skill.

Less randomness. Randomness helps bad players.

But at the same time, pg8, bad players have more stable manabases as well. Seems like it helps both ends pretty equally. The amount of randomness reduced probably won't be much either, since the amount of lands is basically staying the same since we have no fetches.

His point is that with a more stable manabase, issues with mana become less important in determining the winner. If both players are less likely to lose to mana screw, the player with more skill is more likely to win.

I understand what he means about lands, but that doesn't assure that unskilled players simply win less. I haven't really noticed color screw be a problem at all with current standard. So it seems like it will be the same with shocks instead of SOM lands. There is no fixing to be gained/lost. The amount of fixing remains the same.
