MONO BLACK CONTROL:

1x Hex Parasite
4x Vampire Nighthawk
3x Phyrexian Obliterator
1x Wurmcoil Engine

4x Duress
2x Tragic Slip
4x Sign in Blood
3x Vessel of Endless Rest
3x Dismember
3x Mind Rot
3x Lashwrithe
4x Mutilate
1x Karn Liberated

24x Swamp

SIDEBOARD:
4x Knight of Infamy
4x Curse of Death's Hold
4x Noxious Revival
3x Hex Parasite

Explanations for some things:

DISMEMBER: I feel that post-M13, Dismember is going to be better than Murder. Most people think that Murder is going to be better, but seeing that WW and UG Infect are going to be so huge, Dismember seems like the better choice, being that you can cast it without the mana to take out an Inkmoth Nexus or their Master Tactician.

HEX PARASITE: It takes out Planeswalkers, this being the main reason.

NOXIOUS REVIVAL: I have found that this decks one major weak point is against Surgical Extraction. One Extraction can take out all of your Nighthawks or Obliterators. A Noxious Revival in your hand fixes that problem.[/u]

Edited to include a Wurmcoil Engine and a Karn, Liberated (which I have one of irl). Took out three discard spells in favor of three mana acceleration cards, and there are now four Sign in Blood.

It's not here because:
1) I would rather have Phyrexian Obliterator in Mono Black.
2) It's rotating with M12, and i'm not putting any M12 cards in this deck.

I did not know that. Sad
Guess i'll just have to mod it to include Shimian Specter and something else after the rotation then.

I actually think the format may temporarily be right for MBC it is very creature centric currently and MBC has all the tools for a creature heavy format.

I would start with a list like this.

3 tragic slip
2 doomblade
3 go for the throat
4 Sign in blood
3 Geralfs Messenger
3 Liliana of the Veil
4 Vampire Nighthawk
4 Mutialte
2 Phyrexian Obliterator
3 Batterskull
2 Grave Titan
1 Karn Liberated
26 Swamps

For MBC to be truly good it needs a few things (apart from a creature centric format) , good life gain elements to deal with super fast aggro and burn you have that with nighthawk, batterskull. Obliterator is also strong vs burn.

Ways to deal with swarms of creatures and creatures with hex proof prot black etc, Lillian of the veil and mutilate give this plus karn for troublesome artifacts.

A recurring win condition batterskull provides this.

Ways of generating card advantage, sign in blood, messenger, batterskull, mutilate, grave titan, karn all provide this.

Back that up with some quality spot removal and i think you have a deck for a creature heavy format.

I've been doing some early testing of MBC with this on modo and things are looking pretty good. Quite fun to play also. This is the revised list I've lowered the curve a little as lowering curves is always good, I think you could almost describe it as midrange.

The deck has a very good balance. I think ratchet bombs main are essential to any version to deal with problem artifacts enchantments.

The removal suite, plus hawk and batterskull grind down most aggro decks. After board you get a bit more removal probably for messenger as its really there for control match ups.

Vs control, You have messenger and liliana which are both very strong and batterskull is always troublesome plus obliterator always needs to be dealed with fast or your in trouble. After the board you get to bring in 4 duress, 1 swamp and 2 karn, 2 solemn which drastically improves most control matchups in your favour not that are even bad pre board. Grafdiggers cage can also be brought in vs some control, Hawks and some removal are normally taken out as they do not do a lot vs control.

1 Dismember
3 Tragic slip
1 Doomblade
2 Ratchet bomb
3 Go for the throat
4 Sign in blood
4 Geralfs Messenger
4 Liliana of the Veil
3 Vampire Nighthawk
4 Mutilate
3 Phyrexian Obliterator
3 Batterskull
25 Swamps

sb
1 Swamp
4 Duress
2 Karn liberated
2 Solemn Simulacrum
2 Graffdiggers cage
2 Doomblade
1 Black suns Zenith
1 Curse of the Deathhold
