Back with another 4-3-2-2 won this one, played another 1800 in final so my rating is now comfortably over 1800, do not even think my deck was that good.

Event #: 283857
Time: 4/6/2009 3:31:53 PM
Players:
Sadhi
--> ElementalMox
opa_sukkel
dontlikemyfire
AkromaTrader
nganaaron
motihada
Jankbaby

------ ALA ------

Pack 1 pick 1:
Resounding Silence
Deathgreeter
Kederekt Creeper
Resounding Roar
Soul's Fire
Jhessian Lookout
Branching Bolt
--> Oblivion Ring
Jund Panorama
Obelisk of Bant
Bant Charm
Fatestitcher
Exuberant Firestoker
Where Ancients Tread
Swamp

This is a tough pack, in the end i settled on the o-ring I think its close with fatesticher and bant charm is awsome also.

Pack 1 pick 2:
Naturalize
Obelisk of Grixis
Resounding Scream
--> Oblivion Ring (FOIL)
Knight of the Skyward Eye
Cavern Thoctar
Tidehollow Strix
Skeletal Kathari
Guardians of Akrasa
Goblin Deathraiders
Esper Battlemage
Swerve
Clarion Ultimatum
Swamp

O-ring is a notch above the other cards in this pack so its my pick

Pack 1 pick 3:
Resounding Roar
Viashino Skeleton
Etherium Sculptor
Akrasan Squire
Dreg Reaver
--> Agony Warp
Goblin Mountaineer
Shore Snapper
Waveskimmer Aven
Jungle Shrine
Behemoth's Herald
Ethersworn Canonist
Mountain

Here the agony warp is head and shoulder's above the other cards I really do have to take it, this is a graet start to a draft but in my normal experience when a draft starts like this for me, I end up with very few win conditions and get paired vs some token generating deck that laughs at all my removal.

Pack 1 pick 4:
Excommunicate
--> Viscera Dragger
Thorn-Thrash Viashino
Naya Panorama
Steelclad Serpent (FOIL)
Obelisk of Esper
Godtoucher
Gustrider Exuberant
Resounding Wave
Mighty Emergence
Lich's Mirror
Plains

Its between this and the naya panorama for best card in pack, with what I have already I like the dragger more

Pack 1 pick 5:
Onyx Goblet
Spell Snip
--> Bant Panorama
Gustrider Exuberant
Soul's Might
Undead Leotau
Skeletal Kathari
Goblin Mountaineer
Sangrite Surge
Etherium Astrolabe
Plains

Here the fixing felt better than the leotau as I am not looking very red.

Pack 1 pick 6:
Resounding Scream (FOIL)
Vectis Silencers
Deathgreeter
Kederekt Creeper
Carrion Thrash
Glaze Fiend
--> Esper Panorama
Puppet Conjurer
Where Ancients Tread
Swamp

This is also a tough call between the conjurer and the panorama, but ive gone of the conjurer a little recently and opted for the fixing early

Pack 1 pick 7:
--> Waveskimmer Aven
Elvish Visionary
Outrider of Jhess
Grixis Panorama
Obelisk of Bant
Incurable Ogre
Windwright Mage
Ooze Garden
Swamp

With the panorama's I already have I really do not need another and concious of the fact I have very few win conditions, combined with no early pressure the waveskimmer aven felt like the pick.

Pack 1 pick 8:
Goblin Deathraiders
Coma Veil
Shadowfeed
--> Jund Panorama
Relic of Progenitus
Hindering Light
Protomatter Powder
Mountain

Late death raiders but I felt the fixing was better now, as I have so much Im almost certainly going at least 4 colours

Pack 1 pick 9:
Deathgreeter
--> Kederekt Creeper
Jhessian Lookout
Obelisk of Bant
Exuberant Firestoker
Where Ancients Tread
Swamp

Okay maybe red is open

Pack 1 pick 10:
Naturalize
Obelisk of Grixis
Resounding Scream
--> Goblin Deathraiders
Swerve
Swamp

Pack 1 pick 11:
Viashino Skeleton
Goblin Mountaineer
--> Shore Snapper
Behemoth's Herald
Mountain

Pack 1 pick 12:
Godtoucher
Gustrider Exuberant
--> Mighty Emergence
Plains

Pack 1 pick 13:
--> Soul's Might
Goblin Mountaineer
Plains

Pack 1 pick 14:
--> Deathgreeter
Swamp

Pack 1 pick 15:
--> Ooze Garden

------ ALA ------

Pack 2 pick 1:
Jungle Weaver
Soul's Fire (FOIL)
Vectis Silencers
Resounding Silence
Naya Panorama
Cancel
Rakeclaw Gargantuan
Bloodthorn Taunter
Naturalize
Angelsong
--> Bant Charm
Thoughtcutter Agent
Angelic Benediction
Realm Razer
Island

Red is the one colour I clearly am not atm and my deck is not the sort of deck that end up ahead alot so the bant charm is the pick

Pack 2 pick 2:
Akrasan Squire
Dreg Reaver
Sigil Blessing
Druid of the Anima
Resounding Wave
Soul's Might
Resounding Scream
Naya Panorama
Cancel
--> Tower Gargoyle
Dragon's Herald
Kiss of the Amesha
Punish Ignorance
Forest

Now thats an excellent win condition im very happy to csope up never saw it all draft in all 8 games, would like the kiss also

Pack 2 pick 3:
--> Bant Charm (FOIL)
Blightning
Naturalize
Obelisk of Grixis
Resounding Scream
Bloodthorn Taunter
Rip-Clan Crasher
Elvish Visionary
Bloodpyre Elemental
Soul's Grace
Puppet Conjurer
Esper Charm
Island

Awsome, hope i get paired vs fatty.dec as it gonna hate me

Pack 2 pick 4:
--> Courier's Capsule
Yoked Plowbeast (FOIL)
Jungle Weaver
Thorn-Thrash Viashino
Etherium Sculptor
Gift of the Gargantuan
Outrider of Jhess
Obelisk of Naya
Windwright Mage
Swerve
Death Baron
Swamp

Card draw plus removal is a great way of grinding out results

Pack 2 pick 5:
Kederekt Creeper
Dreg Reaver (FOIL)
Ridge Rannet
--> Knight of the Skyward Eye
Resounding Scream
Naya Panorama
Cancel
Bloodthorn Taunter
Fire-Field Ogre
Thunder-Thrash Elder
Plains

Early beater plus, good late game, as I have no red its better than ogre

Pack 2 pick 6:
Call to Heel
Yoked Plowbeast
--> Dregscape Zombie
Gustrider Exuberant
Resounding Wave
Blightning
Naturalize
Obelisk of Grixis
Jund Charm
Plains

I took alot of time over this the jund charm is a real incentive to add some red to my deck, but i did not feel I quite had the fixing to get away with it, so I went with the safer zombie.

Pack 2 pick 7:
--> Naturalize
Obelisk of Grixis
Resounding Scream
Bloodthorn Taunter
Shadowfeed
Soul's Grace
Dawnray Archer
Immortal Coil
Plains

I have two o-rings no one is getting these as they can own me

Pack 2 pick 8:
Banewasp Affliction
Vectis Silencers
Deathgreeter
Shore Snapper
--> Coma Veil
Soul's Grace
Sangrite Surge
Island

Pack 2 pick 9:
Vectis Silencers
Cancel
Bloodthorn Taunter
--> Naturalize
Thoughtcutter Agent
Angelic Benediction
Island

Pack 2 pick 10:
Resounding Wave
Soul's Might
Resounding Scream
--> Cancel
Dragon's Herald
Forest

Pack 2 pick 11:
Resounding Scream
Bloodthorn Taunter
--> Rip-Clan Crasher
Soul's Grace
Island

Pack 2 pick 12:
Thorn-Thrash Viashino
Outrider of Jhess
--> Swerve
Swamp

Pack 2 pick 13:
Resounding Scream
--> Bloodthorn Taunter
Plains

Pack 2 pick 14:
--> Gustrider Exuberant
Plains

Pack 2 pick 15:
--> Soul's Grace

Sylvan Bounty
Canyon Minotaur
Traumatic Visions
Rhox Meditant
Zombie Outlander
Infectious Horror
Worldly Counsel
Quenchable Fire
Rotting Rats
Asha's Favor
Knotvine Mystic
Voices from the Void
--> Grixis Slavedriver
Exotic Orchard
Swamp

Hmm the exotic orchard is woth a few tix but the slavedriver is an awsome card, a great win condition and my deck once more of these sort of cards in the end the driver one out, he was priceless in my route to victory

i think you got a bit lucky in the draft...

pick 1 branching bolt is the best card you'd send bant to the left and then eb able to choose to cut them out of naya or just hop into jund or play a better removal card for 5c.

pick 2 would still ahve been o-ring, showing bant strongly again. then passing aven and squire you are sure to get at least on of those 2 players to suck up bant. the cards after 1 pick are ATROCIOUS for GW so you are sure to only have one rival in those colors ( not that it really matters... naya's best picks come from pack 3 and you win the fight versus the guy on your left.

it's prety clear the guy or guys on your right are palying jund and/or RB aggro because few blightnings /thunders / sprays make it to you. this means weavers wont get to you but meditants/mights/outlanders/ would have.

but now looking at what you did draft- gratz on winning but you talk about being depraved of win conditions- skyward-eye prophets gets you there inevitably. it turns out that raredrafting was fine for you but the card would have unleashed your deck.

i do really think your deck would have been unstoppable if you took bolt into ring p1 and p2

Okay I do not like naya or jund since cfx came out, at a competitive level magic is a results game and neither shard gets the results for me anymore so I try to advoid drafting them. Even with that I find oring to be the consistantly better card, branching bolt can be better in ceratin situations but most the time the o-ring is better.

All three of my opponent were base GW i have a feeling it was overdrafed at the table.

I thought the scepter of fugee was worth 4 tix, as it turns out its 1.5, it was 4 tix after nassif won the PT with 5cc, did not figure it would go down so much. With knowing this the skyward eye prophets would have been a much better pick and certainly would have improved my deck.

The cumberstone was really good, getting swarmed is a problem for this deck that the card combats very well, it also nulifies cards like necrogenesis or jund battlemage somewhat. I wanted to try it out and it was very impressive.
