So I drafted the a sick GW with a hint of red, currently waiting for round 2 start as my first round was over so quick, I decided I could type an entire report up before r2 started i was right

Event #: 237541
Time: 3/10/2009 11:35:09 PM
Players:
--> ElementalMox
Hoeg
Dustin99
Tattooedmonk
Alfer71
lashfest
RasquallDM
yavimayamansfield

------ ALA ------

Pack 1 pick 1:
Bant Panorama
Obelisk of Grixis
Blister Beetle
Cavern Thoctar
Spell Snip
Dispeller's Capsule
Rip-Clan Crasher
Tortoise Formation
Lush Growth
Agony Warp
Sprouting Thrinax
Thoughtcutter Agent
Angelic Benediction
--> Broodmate Dragon
Island

No brainer!

Pack 1 pick 2:
Sigil Blessing
Court Archers
Viashino Skeleton
Call to Heel
Godtoucher
Cathartic Adept
Blightning
Lightning Talons
Angelsong
Undead Leotau
--> Bant Charm
Etherium Astrolabe
Knight-Captain of Eos
Plains

Bant charm feels a bit better than knight captain of eos though they are both great, neither is ideal with my first pick.

Pack 1 pick 3:
Sigil Blessing
Court Archers
Viashino Skeleton
Call to Heel
--> Knight of the Skyward Eye
Resounding Scream
Naya Panorama
Cancel
Rakeclaw Gargantuan
Bloodthorn Taunter
Metallurgeon
Angelic Benediction
Plains

The knight is an awsome 2 drop and feels stronger than any other pick in the pack of which there are alot of a round about the same level

Pack 1 pick 4:
--> Druid of the Anima
Ridge Rannet
Steelclad Serpent
Excommunicate
Godtoucher
Gustrider Exuberant
Resounding Wave
Blightning
Naturalize
Dawnray Archer
Memory Erosion
Plains

This is the best card here naya splashing for broodmate dragon seems okay to me.

Pack 1 pick 5:
Excommunicate
Druid of the Anima
Thorn-Thrash Viashino
Yoked Plowbeast
Obelisk of Naya
Esper Panorama
Hindering Light
Sigiled Paladin
Exuberant Firestoker
--> Manaplasm
Swamp

Im never sure about just how good mana plasm is but the mana dificulties with the paladin and ww make him an easier pick than it would be otherwise

Pack 1 pick 6:
Naya Panorama
Cancel
--> Rakeclaw Gargantuan
Bloodthorn Taunter
Naturalize
Angelsong
Goblin Mountaineer
Thunder-Thrash Elder
Gather Specimens
Plains

Its between this and the naya panorama Im not certain whihc is better as my deck ended up so aggresive I did not rakeclaw I wish i had took the panorama

Pack 1 pick 7:
Tortoise Formation
Coma Veil
Carrion Thrash
Glaze Fiend
--> Obelisk of Naya
Gift of the Gargantuan
Esper Charm
Protomatter Powder
Mountain

Pack 1 pick 8:
Spell Snip
Swamp (FOIL)
Volcanic Submersion

--> Rip-Clan Crasher
Tortoise Formation
Lush Growth
Thoughtcutter Agent

Godtoucher
Cathartic Adept
Lightning Talons
--> Angelsong
Plains

Pack 1 pick 11:
Viashino Skeleton
Resounding Scream
Bloodthorn Taunter
--> Angelic Benediction
Plains

These always come much later than they should very good card

Pack 1 pick 12:
--> Excommunicate
Godtoucher
Gustrider Exuberant
Plains

And these also compliment it very well in aggresive decks

Pack 1 pick 13:
--> Excommunicate
Thorn-Thrash Viashino
Swamp

Wow! I must comment I never really beleived that release time drafts are weaker than normal but now I am begining to feel so.

Pack 1 pick 14:
--> Bloodthorn Taunter
Plains

Pack 1 pick 15:
--> Mountain

------ ALA ------

Pack 2 pick 1:
Bone Splinters
Jungle Weaver
Thorn-Thrash Viashino
Etherium Sculptor
Marble Chalice
Deathgreeter
Goblin Deathraiders
Mosstodon
Dragon Fodder
Sanctum Gargoyle
--> Naya Battlemage
Corpse Connoisseur
Kiss of the Amesha
Quietus Spike
Forest

The naya Battlemage is clearly the pick for us hear and one if not the most strongest card in the pack.

Pack 2 pick 2:
Magma Spray
Dispeller's Capsule
Godtoucher
Cathartic Adept
Island (FOIL)
Lightning Talons
Shadowfeed
Waveskimmer Aven
Guardians of Akrasa
Dragon Fodder
--> Rhox Charger
Puppet Conjurer
Esper Charm
Island

As much as I want some removal the charger is simply awsome so Im gonna pass the spray

Pack 2 pick 3:
Waveskimmer Aven
Coma Veil
Soul's Grace
Skeletal Kathari
Grixis Panorama
Obelisk of Bant
--> Wild Nacatl
Incurable Ogre
Windwright Mage
Cloudheath Drake
Behemoth's Herald
Knight of the White Orchid
Mountain

With the late cards we picked up pack 1 the plan now is definatly to go aggresive GWr my favourite arch type

Pack 2 pick 4:
Savage Hunger
--> Hissing Iguanar
Steelclad Serpent
Marble Chalice
Blightning
Naturalize
Obelisk of Grixis
Resounding Scream
Bloodthorn Taunter
Bant Battlemage
Protomatter Powder
Mountain

Best card in pack

Pack 2 pick 5:
Kathari Screecher
Sighted-Caste Sorcerer
Shore Snapper
Steward of Valeron
--> Wild Nacatl
Grixis Panorama
Glaze Fiend
Cloudheath Drake
Topan Ascetic
Sphinx's Herald
Mountain

Its tough between this and the aestic but draws such as nactal 2 drop, excommunicate, excommunicate or bendiction are so hard to beat

Pack 2 pick 6:
Dregscape Zombie
Kederekt Creeper
Savage Hunger
Ridge Rannet
--> Akrasan Squire
Windwright Mage
Outrider of Jhess
Dawnray Archer
Scourge Devil
Swamp

This is turning out very nicely

Pack 2 pick 7:
Savage Hunger
Steelclad Serpent
Marble Chalice
Resounding Roar
Soul's Grace
--> Mosstodon
Waveskimmer Aven
Corpse Connoisseur
Mountain

Easy pick the trample ability is very useful for forcing through final few points

Pack 2 pick 8:
Vectis Silencers
--> Welkin Guide
Excommunicate (FOIL)
Godtoucher
Gustrider Exuberant
Swerve
Minion Reflector
Swamp

These are also very underrated i have lost count of the number of games they have won me.

Pack 2 pick 9:
--> Jungle Weaver
Thorn-Thrash Viashino
Marble Chalice
Deathgreeter
Goblin Deathraiders
Corpse Connoisseur
Forest

Pack 2 pick 10:
Godtoucher
Cathartic Adept
Island (FOIL)
Shadowfeed
--> Waveskimmer Aven
Island

Pack 2 pick 11:
Soul's Grace
--> Obelisk of Bant
Incurable Ogre
Behemoth's Herald
Mountain

Pack 2 pick 12:
--> Savage Hunger
Resounding Scream
Bloodthorn Taunter
Mountain

Pack 2 pick 13:
--> Steward of Valeron
Sphinx's Herald
Mountain

Pack 2 pick 14:
--> Dawnray Archer
Swamp

Pack 2 pick 15:
--> Mountain

------ CON ------

Pack 3 pick 1:
Ember Weaver
Kederekt Parasite (FOIL)
Faerie Mechanist
Bone Saw
--> Gleam of Resistance
Nacatl Savage
Wandering Goblins
Brackwater Elemental
Suicidal Charge
Maniacal Rage
Fusion Elemental
Ignite Disorder
Dreadwing
Rakka Mar
Forest

Im not sure here but I felt i was going to have a hard time casting Rakka Mar I have next to no red and little fixing I would want to play, ruling him out for these reasons we can also rule out the ember weaver for lack of red creatures, leaving me first picking gleam again

Pack 3 pick 2:
Sedraxis Alchemist
Vedalken Outlander
Wild Leotau
Frontline Sage
--> Aven Squire
Rotting Rats
Goblin Outlander
Court Homunculus
Worldly Counsel
Knotvine Mystic
Dreadwing
Elder Mastery
Scepter of Fugue
Mountain

How much is the scepter woth should have rare drafted it, its a hard call between leotau and squire, but i want the deck as aggresive as possible and its for these reasons though squire is a weaker card that i made my pick

Pack 3 pick 3:
Gleam of Resistance
--> Wild Leotau
Frontline Sage
Pestilent Kathari
Tukatongue Thallid
Asha's Favor
Countersquall (FOIL)
Molten Frame
View from Above
Filigree Fracture
Sacellum Archers
Telemin Performance
Plains

Another hard decision, I do not think we need a second gleam the red splash seems more and more off ruling out sacellum also so wild leotau is this time the pick

Pack 3 pick 4:
Sylvan Bounty
--> Aven Squire
Pestilent Kathari
Dark Temper
Matca Rioters
Suicidal Charge
Constricting Tendrils
Court Homunculus
Nacatl Hunt-Pride
Shard Convergence
Progenitus
Plains

As i have no black and Im starting to collect a fair bit of exalted the squire it is

Pack 3 pick 5:
Vedalken Outlander
Dark Temper
Frontline Sage
--> Aven Squire
Rotting Rats
Court Homunculus
Worldly Counsel
Voices from the Void
Filigree Fracture
Scornful Ęther-Lich
Plains

And another

Pack 3 pick 6:
Kranioceros
Absorb Vis
--> Valeron Outlander
Yoke of the Damned
Quenchable Fire
Tukatongue Thallid
Lapse of Certainty
Vagrant Plowbeasts
Fleshformer
Mountain

Solid 2 drop

Pack 3 pick 7:
Wretched Banquet
Sylvan Bounty
--> Rhox Meditant
Brackwater Elemental
Exploding Borders
Maniacal Rage
Voices from the Void
Viashino Slaughtermaster
Forest

Not sure I will need it but hey

Pack 3 pick 8:
Wretched Banquet
Sylvan Bounty
Traumatic Visions
--> Might of Alara
Salvage Slasher
Brackwater Elemental
Maniacal Rage
Swamp

Nice I really wanted a combat trick and this was the last pack I could get one in

Pack 3 pick 9:
Bone Saw
Nacatl Savage
Wandering Goblins
Suicidal Charge
Maniacal Rage
--> Ignite Disorder
Forest

Pack 3 pick 10:
Frontline Sage
Rotting Rats
--> Goblin Outlander
Court Homunculus
Knotvine Mystic
Mountain

Pack 3 pick 11:
Asha's Favor
View from Above
Filigree Fracture
--> Sacellum Archers
Plains

Wow this card should never be this late

Pack 3 pick 12:
--> Sylvan Bounty
Constricting Tendrils
Shard Convergence
Plains

Pack 3 pick 13:
Rotting Rats
--> Worldly Counsel
Plains

Pack 3 pick 14:
--> Tukatongue Thallid
Mountain

Pack 3 pick 15:
--> Forest

The deck

1 might of alara
1 araskan squire
2 wild nactal
3 aven squire
1 knight of the skyward eye
1 steward of valeron
1 valeron outlander
2 excommunicate
1 guardian of araskan
1 manaplasm
1 naya battlemage
1 sacellum archers
1 angelic bendiction
1 rhox charger
1 wild leotau
1 gleam of resistance
1 mostodon
1 welkin guide
8 plains
8 forests
2 mounains

sb cards of note 1 jungle weaver, rhox mendiant, 1 angel song, druid of the anima, rake claw garanguatn, obelisk of naya, 1 hissing igunar, aven waveskimmer, bant charm

Really hard to build this so many options, I went for the most consistant looking build I did not play the druid as the deck did not feel like it wanted to ramp into anything as opposed to just curving out, could have gone bant also, but I really wanted full power nactals, plus the ability to use sacellum and naya to full potential.

Feedback appreciated

Man, playing guardians of akrasa over Hissing Iguanar makes no sense to me in an aggressive deck like yours. And I would have played Rakeclaw Gargantuan over Angelic Benediction.

I lost 2nd round to an ever better naya deck can not beat 3rd turn wolly throctar, the 18 lands was because I had no fixing and I felt the deck was good enough I could play the extra land, I really want as many mounatins as possible as they make my nactals alot better, it was still mana issues that cost me at least one game. There is no point in playing igunar ot rakeclaw garganutan if you can not play them I have 2 mountains, plus beenediction is just awsome in this sort of deck.

I understand that you had only 2 mountains, but with 18 lands in your deck, you would have been able to play at least 4 mountains imo.
