6 forest
1 bant panorama
1 naya panorama

I know the mana base is better than alot of people draft all the time but i just can not ever ever no matter what get away with an even slightly dubious mana base they always go wrong on me.

Round 1 Game 1 I get a great exalted curve all my opponent does is drop a mountain each turn and then concede. Game 2 it tuens out he is also wgr but more of a fatty.dec he has alot of rares including the dude who adds a g for each creature greater than power 5, the one that lets you look at top 5 cards lib and put a cretaure with greater than power 5 into play, and battlegrace angel i see all of these this game and am stuck on 3 lands for a ridic long time but topan asetics are wining the game for me with thew help of exalted, I eventually make mycoloth and the turn he topdeck angel I am able to alpha strike and sigil blessing for the win.

Round 2 Game 1 I keep a 2 land hand on the play, missing only white mana, I draw only green mana and spells needing white for the rest of the game and the asetic and rhox are not enough by themselves. I beat down with topan asetic with help of cout archers he stalls on 3 lands and I have excommunicate, He lets topan through again and I have both my pump spells for the win. I keep a debatable hand on the draw with a mountain and a plains plus a steward and druid and good stuff figuring a forest is the most likely draw in my deck. He goes turn 1 nactal turn 2 cylvian elf, turn 3 rockslide something or other. I miss on all three shots to hit a forest infact all three shots to hit a land oh well. Anyone else feel that this format makes fo very few good games where you actually get to play magic and alot of who does not screwed?

Feedback appreciated

I'm going to go through some of your mistakes here, in my opinion at least:

P1P4:

Drumhunter > Court Archers

P1P12:

Lightning Talons > Angelsong

P2P3: Bloodpye Elemental/Vithian Stinger > Stuart

P2P5: Qasali Ambusher/Gift of the Gargantuan > Rhox Charger

P2P8: Jhessian Infiltrator > Seaside Citadel

P3P1: Magma Spray/Resounding Roar/Soul's Fire/ Bant Panorama > Rhox Charger

P3P2: Naya Charm > Branching Bolt

Honestly, you seem to love going exalted in your drafts and because of this you are ignoring completely amazing and possible Naya/Jund decks that you could be getting:/ You saw 2 Jund Charms and a Naya charm in this draft and you didn't take any of them:/ Try going something non-exalted next time, and keep Red, which is possibly the strongest color in the set, to more than just a splash:/

I think you're mistakenly applying a lot of draft theory that isn't relevant to Alara. In previous formats you obviously want to keep your colours and choices open, that doesn't apply so much to Alara. In Alara you want to pick up bombs and either force their colours or play 5c control.

You passed up a lot of amazing 3-colour bombs (notably NAYA CHARM, freaking stupid pick that one) in favour of preserving your options until late. In Alara that is often the wrong choice.

Don't be scared to pick up some good cards then try to work a draft around them. You could have ended this draft with an amazing Jund/Naya 4c deck from what I'm seeing of the signs.

@Trotsky: I gtg in about 5 mins, I'll do a proper draft commentary some time tomorrow if you're still interested.

@Zapgaze: ummm, I'm going to disagree very strongly with a number of the suggestions you make:

1) P1P4
Drum Hunters > Court Archers.
This pick is very close. Both cards are very powerful in their respective decks. However, whereas Drum Hunters is a 4 mana 2/2, court archers is a 1/3 for 3 (great in a format of 2 power guys), and much better for your curve. Both are fine picks. I personally wouldd have taken Drum Hunters, however, to call this pick a mistake is incorrect, as I believe that there are multiple valid drafting styles, in this or any other format....

2) You heavily underate how good Rhox Charger is. Firstly it's a 3/3 for 4. This means it's HUGE for its cost, trading with 5 mana creatures such as Mosstodon and ensuring that attacking on your opponent's next turn will be difficult. Then it has exalted, affecting the board immediately, and, perhaps most importantly, it has pseudo evasion, very important for pushing the last few points through. It's certainly MUCH better than Gift, Magma Spray or Resounding Roar.....

3) P2P8
what's your logic behind this criticism, I honestly don't see it.... go into a 4th colour with minimal fixing for a 2 drop, or take a card you are guarenteed to play md, and which will help you bluff resounding silence late game, I ddon't think it's close tbh.

On Branching Bolt: My estimation of this card has gone down a lot since I saw it at the pre-release. Sure it's a 2 for 1, but this is often only against the esper decks, which are often the decks that have less trouble making up the card advantage. I mean, the card doesn't even kill Waveskimmer Aven. That's not to say it's not first pickable, but it DOES make it weaker than powerful uncommons such as Naya Charm, and strong Removal such as Oblivion Ring and Resounding Thunder/Silence (I'm more than happy to get into why Capsule is not as good as it looks either, but probably some other time)

Okay thanks overall yes I agree I am still using some outdated draft theory but the two approches to this format are power and consistancy, I always chose consistancy from this point, as I am still winning alot of games where decks with dodgey mana bases are getting all there mana, so honestly i think consistancy in this format still equals more game wins and I know alot of players including some very top ones who think the same. Also here I should be obligied to point nick eisel is not a top player in my book and I have no respect for his drafting stratergy.

The branching bolt felt like it could be more powerful and a bit easier to cast than the charm but i think now it was a wrong pick as I already had plenty of artifact hate for esper in the sb and the match up was in my favour.

Would very much appreciate an analysis from you dv8r if you have the time as opposed to just a rebutal of someone elses.

Thanks for all the feedback.

here the thing i would do
Pack 1 pick 4:
Drumhunter > Court Archers
Pack 1 pick 5:
Thorn-Thrash Viashino > Court Archers
Pack 1 pick 6:
Court Archers --> Sigiled Paladin (double white mana is hard to cast)
Pack 1 pick 7:
Jund Panorama --> Welkin Guide (OMG so late got fixed)
Pack 1 pick 9:
Incurable Ogre orCarrion Thrash --> Sighted-Caste Sorcerer
Pack 1 pick 11:
Blister Beetle --> Angelic Benediction (don't look down the -1-1)
Pack 1 pick 12:
Lightning Talons --> Angelsong
Pack 2 pick 3:
Executioner's Capsule/Bloodpyre Elemental/Vithian Stinger
--> Steward of Valeron ( i would probaly pick the stinger)
Pack 2 pick 7:
Volcanic Submersion --> Dispeller's Capsule (it a creature kill for esper player and mana disrupter)
Pack 2 pick 11:
Soul's Grace/Protomatter Powder --> Crucible of Fire (the rest is more playeble than your pick)
Pack 3 pick 1:
Soul's Fire > Rhox Charge
Pack 3 pick 2:
Naya Charm --> Branching Bolt (any day go for winning cards)

last comment your lands
4 count of red mana land is not enough so reduce your forest and plain for 2 mountain more.

The mana base was a little dodgey and red is the colour i need least Im not running less than 9 of my main colour green and then I had more white than red, I said I would have liked a better mana base but red is the least essential of the 3 colours hence the manabase, I can easily win games with out red mana, less so for white and impossible with out green.

Also I have 5 red sources as I have an elf.

p1p1
This isn't close, Mycoloth is one of the top 5 rares in the set, winning games quickly (one untap phase is normally all you need), being generally good in the green curve, and is pretty difficult to kill if you are sensible about attacking with it. Branching Bolt is probably only the 6th best common in the set (Resounding Thunder, O-Ring, Capsule, Agony Warp, Gargoyle, maybe even Bone Splinters).

p1p3
Nothing wrong with taking Ridge Raptor here, you're almost certain to be playing GRW or GRB, given the mycolyth first pick, Ridge Raptor is a very powerful card, cycling early and being a good late game drop (EXACTLY what the mana heavy green ramp decks want)

p1p4
I would take Drum Hunter here, the card singlehandedly wins games with exalted, and you have Topian Ascetic already, so you can even activate him without needing to attack. Court Archers is certainly defensible, but it has nowhere NEAR the potential upside.

p1p12
Lightning Talons is a lot better than it looks, Angelsong is still a fine pick, just felt I needed to say it.

p2p3
This pick surprises me, you have a removal spell that beats for 4, and a pinger, but you take a 2 drop that requires 2 mana of two different colours when you have no fixing. Any reason why?

p2p5
This is REALLY late, I'd be happy to splash it....

p2p10
See previous.

p2p13
Ummm......

p3p1
Soul's fire is powerful, Rhox Charger is still better, especially if you are concerned about colour.

p3p2
You really want the Nacatl here for your deck, but Charm is far too good to pass up. Don't treat bolt as a 2 for 1, it almost never is, pretend it's 1GR for 3 damage, still very powerful, but not really bomby.

p3p4
Pass the money? Oh, and it's clearly a she Razz

p3p8
I can see Nurturer in this pack, it's a really good racing card, whereas blessing is ANOTHER non creature spell (you can't really play more than 7). Ridge Raptor is also a decent pick here.

p3p12
Plowbeast is almost certain to make your main deck. Only pass plowbeast if you are sure you will md platoon.

This format rewards two things:
1) Drafting mana early enough, and knowing how to build mana base.
2) Knowing how and when to splash. I think it's good because 2 colour decks with a splash seem to be the best option (as in other formats), and the options to go 5 colour, or the mana to get your splash is plentiful. I also like how they've managed to give each shard a clear strategy and drafting identity, whilst allowing interchangability between shards: Unearth/Devour, Devour/5+ Power, Bone Splinters with Puppet Conjourer or Sanctum Gargoyle in Esper, or with Unearth in Grixis.
