I hate it whenever I check in to #judges4you, have a ruling dispute that is easy to solve, but since I was so late getting there I missed the opportunity. I can't watch #judges4you like a hawk, because there's other things I like to do (surf, play Age of Empires, play ps2/watch tv which is in the same room). But I know of a way that would help me out by covering rulings and being able to do other things at the same time. I have a script that dings, turns the channel in which this was activated green, and the line of text when this was invoked red whenever someone says my nickname. (not "Elim"; it doesn't work then. Only Eliminator!) If you do this, if I am not asleep or out somewhere else, I will be able to get the ruling for you. I hope to be able to provide many more rulings in the future.

Every judge should have a script like this. Sometimes it takes me upwards of 10 minutes to get a simple ruling on drawing extra cards or what have you.

The problem is the players making the errors Very Happy

Also, another problem is the players beeing too lazy to study rules a bit and pass the judge test.

There are upwards of 20+ judges in #judges4you at any time with tons of tournaments being ran every day. Often times the judge running a tournament I'm in isn't even paying attention to #judges4you. How can the problem be the players? Players have need of rulings. Joking or not, it's kind of wrong to insist the players are in any way at fault.

Anyway, I've personally seen leagues with far fewer judges respond much quicker on average than Magic League judges do. Just pay attention!

Have you thought that maybe the judge that made the mini is also playing in it? Its perfectly normal that it happens.

Even when playing, a judge should pay attention to #judges4you.

the problem is that players make the errors that you need rulings on in the 1st place Razz

Please tell me that was a joke.

As an actual DCI judge, being on here is one of the few times I can actually play in an event. Rulings aren't always needed to be explained to the player calling the judge. I've had to call judges before to explain to my opponent how something works.

Here's a little tip for the judges out there who forget they're running a tournament mid-match. Open up that remote and get to pasting:

Code:
on *:text:*:#judges4you:{
    /flash judges4you
    /beep
}

It literally is that simple. With all the flashing and beeping, you'd have to be brain dead not to notice someone needs a ruling.
