|
|
Magic-League is currently planning a web/browser based draft application that makes it possible to have draft minis, and later on trials.
At this point we would like to get as many online drafting experiences and feature suggestions as possible. If there's something on your mind, feel free to say it out loud here. Hopefully we'll get lots of useful comments, and the application will become as good as possible.
Please don't flood this thread with "Cool!" or "When is it done?" style comments! Only constructive suggestions are welcome.
Feature list so far:
- www interface with card text or pictures (user choice)
- Security codes for MWS and Apprentice
- Draft tournaments, for starters only Booster draft
- Multiple pods (tables) for larger tournaments
- Time limits, possibly less time as the pack gets thinner
- Automatic random picks for people who can't decide
- Possibility to look and sort the cards you've picked so far
- Visualization of pick order (people in your table)
- Support for print runs

| My suggestion would be that cards you picked could be categorized like according to color and/or CMC and/or pick order and/or rarity after the draft. Also in real draft you cant look at your cards during a pack but there is some time given to look at them between packs. No idea how to do this but if its possible that would be nice. |

There needs to be:
1. A timer
2. A pick by pick recall, of all drafts.
3. Team Drafts!!!(ne1 play these much?)
4. 2hg Drafts
Unfortunatley, the biggest problem is that people can talk about there drafts through other applications, which wouldn't be cool. I don't know how to work around that. I mean for minis it wouldn't be an issue but since there is talk of trying to bring it to Trials..... I don't know Good luck and thanks. |

Do you mean that you can see ALL cards you drafted only beetween the packs, but you can see your current pack picks all the time during the draft? |

I agree with Deuce- the ability to sort cards by converted mana cost, color, etc. is really important.
Also, if possible, try to find a way to allow us to get pictures on the cards; maybe do something like that site that gives you pictures on MWS cards (I don't use it so I forgot the name of the site). This is because when I draft, I remember the cards quickly by the pictures, not the names, and I'm sure most other people do this too.
And, finally, a team draft option would be awesome, |

| How about a draft viewer to watch past drafts with? Not something anywhere near necessary, but a cool feature if possible. |

I think that the draft should just end and a new one should be started if somebody drops. It just screws the whole draft up to not have somebody their picking certain colors for their deck. The solution should be the same one that they have in the draft room-people that drop from drafts should be banned. |

| Umm.. You cant view all the cards all the time in real drafts. I was trying to say you should not be able to see the cards during drafting a booster but in between them you can look at all you cards you have drafted so far. |

The ability for someone to reconnect should their internet go out temporarily or something.
Records of the draft pick by pick, including the other cards in the pack. |

I think that is what he means, but since it is a ridiculous suggestion and nobody else with half a brain would want this, you can ignore it. Just like any real draft, you should be able to view all the cards you have picked at all times.
I agree with the previous commenter that you should be able to sort by color and/or casting cost. |
Actually, this follows the DCI floor rules for draft:
| Quote: | | As players draft the cards, they must place their cards in one orderly pile in front of them. Drafted cards may be reviewed only between the drafting of each pack. |
Strictly speaking, players should not be able to look at the other cards that were drafted except between packs. Most likely this rule is there because IRL its hard to make sure people are actually keeping things separate. Many draft programs ignore this rule.
| Quote: | | Records of the draft pick by pick, including the other cards in the pack. |
This would only make sense as something to publish AFTER the draft.

So in a 90 person trial, 1 person disconnects means the trial is over (or 7 other people in the pod can't play?)? Also how do you deal with someone not drafting before the time limit? One way would be to randomly pick for that person (possible weighted by rarity) |

in a DCI sanctioned competitive draft, what happens when a drafter runs out of time on a pick before picking a card?
i suggest having this run as much like irl tournament drafting. |
