SO like does anyone know why cards like bitterblossom went up in price by alot. Same goes for mirrorweave, it was $4-5 before. Now it is like $10. I have no clue why.

more ppl want it for their decks than before. actually, everyone needs Bitterblossoms.

Therefore, need is raising while the avaliable products are not raising that much -> price increases.

This has got to be an attempt at forum trolling.

It just has to.

Yea a combination of the fact that more people want them for their decks. Like Flippi said, supply stays mostly constant and demand rises, price rises. Also, the Block PTQ season is underway, so all cards in block are going to jump a little in price because dealers and websites and etc know that people need block cards so they can reasonably charge more.

Actually it's an speculation affair. The price of food and oil have risen so much that the stock market is not safe anymore and the housing market has crashed so badly that, recently, an inversions group has decided to "invest" in Magic cards.
The idea is to identify a group of key cards (the ones with higher prices) and buy as many as possible, and then sell them at a higher price. They have bribed WotC to introduce a new type of cards (more rare) to increase the effect of their evil plans.

All of this is false (I think) although it could also be true, so, ignore this last paragraph.

Even though you said to ignore it, i feel obliged to address it.

Yes the new mythic rares are more rare than regular rares. But like many have addressed previously because there are fewer mythic rares, your odds of getting any given one when you do bust a mythic is higher than your chances of busting any given normal rare. When all comes together, the mythics are only twice as rare as regular rares. This will make them possibly twice as expensive, but thats not twice the cost of rares now like bitterblossom, thoughtseize and tarmogoyf. Its twice the price of rares from shards of alara.

Also, because mythic rares take up spots, they make the concentration of regular rares higher when you bust regular rares, thus driving those prices down. Also, with the mythic rares, only legends and planeswalkers are going to be printed at that spot, so they wont be 4-of in everydeck, 40 dollar cards.

You should all just be generally aware that even if you don't PTQ much, during Block PTQ season any card in the current block gets pathetically expensive. All summer long last year, Coalition Relic was $8. I kid you not. And when the first deck wins the first Block GP, its "tech card" (last year, Goyf in GW, this year Mirrorweave in Kithkin) tends to triple in value. (or quadmillionduple in goyf's case)

Also, I want to point out props to M-L, apparently whenever the first Block GP hits, it's always won by a deck that already debuted on M-L. I would not have been able to figure out the current Kithkin configuration on my own, that's for sure.

Judging by what I've seen in block so far, I'd count on Cloudthresher staying at $10 and Reflecting Pools going upwards of $20, and Reveillark regaining value.

The rate of increase is only cause of Regionals and block season.

Just a bad time for prices. PT Hollywood a couple weeks ago, GP Birmingham, Regionals, block PTQs.. just alot of stuff happening at once that all work to raise prices.
