I would rather put kitchen finks in that spot because you have better things to fetch with reveillark and it survives a wrath or damnation. But.... I find how you deal with RDW more proactive which seems to be how merfolk should deal with it, just trying to find more evasive ways of getting around. My only question is why have remove soul on SB instead of rune snag?

Very understandable. I played with my list which has a little more white in it tonight and it wrecked my opponents. Its has too many answers and is too fast for most decks to handle, but sudden spoiling sort of stops any sort of alpha attack with your LoA out. Thanks Dan for all the explanations and help.

I run 4 adarkar wastes, 4 wanderwine hub, and 2 mystic gate so getting white isn't really a problem. Overall i think finks is just a better creature.

with 10 white mana sources, two of which can give WW, it is actually a problem getting two of them by the time you have 3 lands. You draw 1 land every 3,3 cards. 45% of those lands produce white.

Turn 3, having drawn 10 cards, you have 3 lands. In more than half the games you play, you will not have 2 white lands until turn 9, 6 cards deeper. (15,5 cards to get to 5 lands... at 13,2 cards and 4 lands you are only at 1,8 white sources). Unless you get a Mystic Gate in every game from 10 cards, the odds are not in your favour for a early Kitchen Finks.

The odds are not awful, though, but if you want lifegain and a blocker, Aven Riftwatcher is a better choice for you.

Guys what do u think about Ruess' deck from the PT ?
Many of his choices are pretty weird, but one thing is for sure: Sygg, River Guide rox !

Sygg is good and was very key to his deck but i only question his choice of tideshaper mystic because i think acquitect's will is much better free w/ reejerey+ draw. You are more likely than not going to preferably want to drop a cursecatcher turn 1. Unsummon and serrated arrows are also odd choices for a SB I would rather rune flashfreeze. I also think the 2 Visions MB make it less quick, yes they replenish your hand, but you would much rather have the game about wrapped up by the time it resolves.

My mono-blue merfolk deck just got wrecked by Faeries at FNM this week.

Its like once he gets 4-5 lands on me, its game over. Mist-bind, cryptics, and alot of countering my own counter magic.

GAYYYY

whats your list? if they have an island and you play your hands right you shouldn't have a problem against faerires. I went 3-1 at my FNM (7-2 games) and my only loss was my first match-up against GB Elf (tarmogoyf, imperious perfect, vanquisher, and a lot of removal much like Gundy) Won the first with turn 5 lord with 4 merfolk+lord and swung for the win but then they sideboarded in too much removal and i lost the next two but faeries should not be an issue with merfolk unless you are missing key cards such as mutavault.
