It Isnt Funny. I Wrote It And I Want It Posted. End Of Story

The Breaking of Legacy
Late at night, almost 4:30 am a few days ago, a noob came in asking about building Extended Mono White Life Gain. Little did we all know, but this sparked a decklist that was sprung up by all the brainstorming that was deemed too broken and had to have an article written about. This is that very article and I hope you all enjoy and take to heart our hard work at coming up with the cards for this deck.
The deck was supposed to first be an Extended deck to help out this new guy with his deck. As the brainstorming continued there were some cards that weren’t going to be Extended legal, so the decision came to use these awesome ideas and break Legacy. Here is the decklist that was thought up:
// Lands
1 [CHK] Mountain (1)
20 [ON] Island (1)

// Creatures
2 [TO] Hypnox
2 [UG] B.F.M. 2
4 [FUT] Tarmogoyf
2 [UG] B.F.M. 1

// Spells
2 [7E] Circle of Protection: Green
3 [ON] Renewed Faith
1 [UNH] Circle of Protection: Art
3 [MR] Assert Authority
1 [TE] Circle of Protection: Red
2 [JU] Test of Endurance
2 [AQ] Circle of Protection: Artifacts
2 [B] Circle of Protection: Blue
4 [6E] Healing Salve
2 [7E] Circle of Protection: White
1 [US] Rune of Protection: Red
1 [US] Rune of Protection: Green
1 [US] Rune of Protection: Blue
1 [US] Rune of Protection: Artifacts
2 [US] Rune of Protection: Lands
1 [TE] Circle of Protection: Shadow

// Sideboard
SB: 4 [7E] Fog
SB: 4 [10E] Holy Day
SB: 4 [LG] Darkness
SB: 3 [NE] Fog Patch

Edowardo came up with the first spark of a broken card to run. On the topic of broken cards for life gain, he spurted out that if Lightning Bolt dealt 3 for R, then Healing Salve is equally, if not MORE broken then that as you turn the tables and gain 3 for W! It didn’t take me more than a couple seconds to realize how correct he was. Seriously, to gain 3 on turn 1, what are they going to do? Maybe drop a Force of Will, which would be well worth it but it is just one of the most broken ideas ever. The other great life gain that was thrown in was Renewed Faith. Even though I prefer the gain 6 life for only 3, I would any day take the ability to gain 2 and draw a card. BROKEN. With all this life gain came the idea, why not win off just life? Test of Endurance is such a good card. Who doesn’t like the ability to instantly win and not have to beat your opponent by destroying them? Exactly (Insert BROKEN here). Along with this idea can that if you can gain life, why not just protect yourself against everything? Thus, Circle of Protection Mania!
I made sure that there was protection versus a good amount of things. There are so many to chose from: Red, Black, Green, Blue, White, Lands, Artifacts, Shadow, and Artists. After some long debate personally, I decided that Black was the worst color in legacy and will never see play or be that good if it does.. This allowed for some more room as I cut the Circle of Protection: Black and the Rune of Protection: Black. I figured all these control enchantments might not be quite what I need to seal the deal. You never know when someone might slip something buy you unknowingly, so I added the best counterspell that has ever been made: Assert Authority. Why just counter something and have it go to the graveyard? I would rather remove it from the game instead.
Creatures was a tricky subject for the deck. Looking back on legacy, there is this weird aggro deck that ran things like Dark Confidant, Grim Lavamancer, Kird Ape, Tarmogoyf and many other things. There is also things like Death and Taxes (the White Weenie of Legacy) and Counter Slivers (Yes, sometimes slivers do win). This made me realize the amount of creatures I would have to be dealing with. The only thing that came to mind to be bigger, sickest, and better than all these little runts was… B.F.M. Big Fury Monster. Seriously, a 99/99 that cannot be chump blocked by all the little guys floating around? In my mind, that is UBER BROKEN! There is only 1 Rancor in this list. I do admit, I personally think its an iffy card, but when it enchants the B.F.M. it becomes even more unstoppable.
There are a couple other creatures in here to help flow out the curve. Hypnox is one of the most broken underestimated cards out there. A creature that has: Flying, Power/Toughness of 8/8, and the most amazing, broken ever ability that wrecks the control decks out there. People always say that Tarmogoyf is one of the best cards ever printed. I may not completely agree, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t give in to the huge fuss on it. I randomly did throw in four into the deck. I am not sure if it will work with what I have going here, but only time will tell.
The mana in here was about to be Plains. After some discussion, it was determined that Plains are one of the worst lands printed. Islands are the most powerful, and the most played lands ever. Ever wonder why they are worth so much more than regular other basic lands? That’s why. In the attempt to spice it up a bit and maybe throw your opponents off a bit, it was decided to throw in the 1 Mountain. Maybe throw them on the scent of a mysterious Blaze out of nowhere to win the game.
Finally, moving onto the sideboard. I figure the only deck I would have a slight issue against would be a super uber fast aggro deck. So this is how I decided to take care of that, Fogs. Any and every type of Fog imaginable is in there to protect me and make me last longer into the late game.
There was a good amount of testing done with this deck, and if I may say from my personal results, this deck is next to unstoppable.
Counter Slivers: You have the huge edge in this game. With the best counterspell in your disposal and a way to protect yourself from every color that is in his deck, this should be a cake walk. The worst that can happen is they get through a few early hits, but after a couple turns, they have to give up a ton of their livers to stop your B.F.M. from swinging for the win. Winn Odds: 90-10
Death and Taxes: This is your only hard match up. It is fast, they can get rid of your B.F.M. and it is almost unwinnable game 1. But that is what your sideboard is for. With all those turns you get now to set up shop by Fogging the heck out of them, you will win it. Each win will probably been 2-1, but it is still a match win, and I will take that any day. Win Odds: 75-25
Angel Stax: This is a hard match up. Chalice of the Void is such a good card. It can stop you in a heartbeat from controlling the field with your CoP’s, but if you get your counterspell off early and stop that Chalice, you have this game. No reason you don’t win this, even with their stupid Crucible of Worlds trix. If worse comes to worse, you can bang the table hard enough that his cards fall to the floor and call a judge over for him trying to stack the deck. His deck is called Stax isn’t it? Win Odds: 95-5
Mono Black Aggro: Like I said, when black is played, IF it is played, its gonna suck. Just sit back and wait for them to kill themselves and that is all. You probably don’t even have to play a land or anything, it’s a simple win. Win Odds: 100-0
UW Landstill: Landstill? LOL. I play Islands, the determined to be best land in the deck. And when you drop that single Mountain, they will probably start to get really confused and scoop out of fear for the Island Mountain trix you may have up your sleeve. Win Odds: 85-15
That is all the testing I have done so far, but there is more testing to be done in the future. As of right now, this deck seems to be shaping up to dominate Legacy for now and some time to come. If you think you can take it on, just let me know. I find this deck to be uber broken. Look for me to win a Legacy GP or something next time it comes around because I believe in this deck and what it can do.
If you have any ideas to make it better, feel free to post and we can discuss about it!
Thanks for your time.

QFT. If you want attention as a writer, you need to actually learn something from your rejections and learn to write better. Churning out a half baked attempt and expecting it to show up on the main page of any website is rather foolish.

I admire the author's use of prose and colloquialism that brings the complex matter of metaphysics to the common magic-league reader.

Well done; 4/10

your not playing sunburst spells, you fail as a man AND a woman. Yes I am clearly pointing he is a hermaphrodite so it should be labeled as s/he. Like I could make a funny article about an all canadian deck
