i for one sign a petition against mandatory use of phases. if you have a spell or ability you want to play at anytime during your opponents turn, just tell them you want to hold the priority on whichever phase you want. And it honestly doesnt matter whether you use phases or not since MWS is nothing like MTGO and the program does not hold the priority if you click a little button. so using phases is pretty much pointles, except to simply waste more time Cool

personally i use phases... the burden of proof is easily won by the clearer of 2 players... it's your own disadvantage to not use phases.

First of all, as Flippi said in the previous topic, this won't change anything, so its pointless to do a petition against another petition.

Now my opinion: Smile

In part, I agree with both petitions. I think phases should be mandatory. On the other side, that doesn't mean we have to use them all the time. Sure we can all skip the upkeep and the draw phase; just untap, draw a card and skip right to the main phase. Surely we can also skip the Beginning of Combat Step, unless we suspect of tap effects like Cryptic Command. But the attackers step is important for our opponent to know that we're attacking. Got the point?

The truth even if you tell someone to start using phases, or you tell someone to stop using phases, it just won't matter. However I don't think it would hurt for the ones that don't use them to start doing it, at least the ones that matter most.

In conclusion: People aren't forced to use phases, but its not like you will die for at least using the phases which are more significant during the course of the game.
