As a follow up to this, if someone attacks me with a boggart ram-gang say and I decide not to decare blokers but to flame javelin it instead does its damage still go to me or does it not asign damage? or what if I decide to tap a thundersong trumpeter to stop it attacking(or simarlaly a puppeteer)? Does the tap/burn need to happen before the attack is declared?
Thanks again.

No the boggart ram gang would not deal damage, unless you waited until combat damage had been put on the stack after that point it would deal damage.

You would have to use the thudersong trumpeter at the beginning of your opponents attack step to stop him from attacking so when he declares attackers (if he doesnt you can just tell him that he has to declare attackers and that when he did you would have done this.) After he declares attackers if you have no responses then he can attack with whoever he likes and the thundersong trumpeter can not stop anything, as you dont get a second chance.

Trotsky1 is correct about the Trumpeter.

This falls under the Player Communication Policy. Basically if your opponent says "Ok I attack with this, this, and this" without clarifying that he's entered his Attack Step you will be allowed to call for a judge and explain that you had a response to entering the Attack Step (if no judge just tell your opponent that you wanted to do something before attackers are declared). Normally the judge will just have the attacking player untap his attackers and start over at the beginning of the step. This allows you to respond before he actually declares his attackers. Of course this also allows him to change the way he wants to attack or not attack at all.
A little lengthy but I think I got it in full.

Thats one of my magic petpeeves or how ever u spell it, when your opponent declare with out announce attack step when u have like a goldmeadow harrier in play with W untapped....

i mean its rather obvious u have effects

on a side note it can be quite disadvantageous revealing which creatures u were intending to attack with before allowing ur opponent the chance to play abilities/spells in the begging of combat step

You should be glad of such sloppy opponents who take away the chance for you to make an error and not tap anything. Unless its a truely deceptive opponent who does it intentionally and attacks badly to try and trick you into tapping the wrong thing but such instances of opponent are much rarer and probably rarely effective.

Just as a note: If the attack is reversed to allow somebody to tap a creature beforehand, the entire attack is reversed. You're in no way obliged to attack the same way, or to even attack at all.
