|

I'm pretty good about rules stuff. But this one kind of caught me off guard. Here goes:
Opponent plays Harmonize.
Then Forks it.
If I play Wild Ricochet, targeting the fork, what happens?
Here's what it seems like it does.
When Wild Ricochet resolves, i change the target of the fork to the Wild Ricochet. essentially just countering the spell. and i get to Wild Ricochet his Harmonize, right?
One more thing. Say I had my own Fork in hand. I could draw my entire deck infinitely, right? |

All looks good so far

heres where you go wrong, once wild ricochet resolves its gone from the stack meaning you cant target it with anything anymore.

wrong, you would get to change the target of his fork (from harmonize to harmonize) and then make a copy of fork (targeting either fork or harmonize)

Well if you target your wild ricochet with your own fork then the best you could do is make infinit copys of wild richocet targeting itself till you broke the loop by targeting something else. |

stack after (1)
Harmonize
stack after (2)
Harmonize < Fork
stack after (3)
Harmonize < Fork < Wild Ricochet
->
Ricochet resolves, can change Forks target to Wild Ricochet, then creates a copy of Fork2, target of copy is either Fork1 Harmonize or Ricochet.
assuming its Wild Ricochet, Fork2 will do nothing, as Ricochet will soon leave the stack (as last part of its resolution).
assuming its Fork1, won't do much except creating Fork3 with the same dilemma, soi n the end, targets Harmonize or does nothing.
stack after (4 - Ricochet resolved)
Harmonize <Fork1(Harmonize/or Ricochet) < Fork2(Harmonize/or Ricochet)
if one of the Forks targets Ricochet now, it will be coutnered upon resolution, -> the other way
Fork2 resolves, puts copy of Harmonize on stack
HarmonizeA < Fork1(Harmonize/or Ricochet) < HarmonizeB
B draws 3 cards.
Fork 1 resolves, copies Harmonize (A draws 3) or is countered.
Harmonize resolves,
A draws 3 cards.
So in the end, Wild RIcochet best makes you also draw 3 cards and negate your opponent's Fork.
Both players will draw at least 3 cards, but Ricochet-player cant draw 6, but make his opponent draw 6. |

| I am confused as to how Wild Ricochet is a legal target for Fork. Please explain, it seems as though Wild Ricochet has already resolved when you are changing the target of Fork to Wild Ricochet, making it an illegal target. |

ransom3...the last part of a spell resolving is removing it from the stack. i guess the correct way for them to say this would be "while wild richochet is resolving" choose my targets. because you have to choose targets while wild ricochet is still resolving it's still on the stack and is a possible target.
and no this isn't like a counterspell trying to target itself. a counterspell would have to have a legal target before you even announce playing it. this is why you can't just play a counterspell for grins. |

| Okay, thank you, that was helpful, it still is a slightly confusing matter though. Good thing there are judges. |
