If i discard it can i decide which half of cc i have to pay or do i need to pay both...

It's nothing like Bob.

Basically, first you decide the value of X. Then you discard a card. Knollspine Invocation will then ask the card: are you CMC X? The split card will answer yes if either half is that CMC and the Invocation is satisfied.

So basically, you decide which half of the split card to use. If you want to discard Boom/Bust you can play the ability with X = 2 or X = 6.

Yeah hardtrack is right just make sure to note that the CMC on cards like flame javelin is 6 and that you need to pay 6 to discard it.
