If a player plays a creature with champion, and i destroy/bounce the only target they have, does the creature's CIP effect still happen or no?

Any CIP effect would trigger, but any effect triggering off championing will, of course, not trigger

If they don't have something to champion, they'll have to sacrifice the creature with champion.

Champion doesn't target and therefor always triggers and resolves.

creatures with champion come into play

they trigger with a A or B clause

there's no targetting involved. the trigger goes on the stack and both players need to pass priority in order active-nonactive and then the champion trigger resolves. as it resolves, the triggers controller chooses A or B; rfg a guy or sacrifice this.

If you meant to say:

I play a creature with Champion. After it comes into play and triggers its ability they kill all creatures I could champion, what happens to the creature with champion?

The answer would be:

You'll have to sacrifice the creature with Champion since you can't champion something to it.

All he asked was if its CIP effect triggered, which it does, as it comes into play before having to sacrifice it due to lack of creatures to champion

Yeah, anything with "champion a 'creature type' " says "if a 'creature type' is championed with 'card name', you get 'effect'" No critter to champion, no effect. BTW, what critter has a CIP ability that happens after the champion check? I think NONE.

Yes and I think that Mistbind Clique is the only creature with a cip ability AND champion.

The only problem is that mistbind clique's CIP still happens if you don't champion a creature. If u can champion a faerie, you get the 4/4 flyer to stay in play, but if you don't, the CIP still triggers and resolves because the clique came intp play.

I'm sorry, what CiP ability are you guys talking about?

Mistbind Clique's only CiP ability is the Champion ability. The other triggered ability is a 'when you champion'-ability.

It will not trigger if you don't champion something and it will not trigger if you champion something but the Clique is no longer in play.

Mistbind Clique's ability (as has been correctly pointed out) is not a CIP ability.

But if Wizards printed a new card which card said:

Quote:

Cardname

Champion a Creature
When Cardname comes into play, gain 3 life.

You would still gain 3 life regardless of whether or not you champion a creature.
