only way i can think of to deal with this card is to counter it?. i'm not sure if the non targeting ability would prevent you from countering it ?
can someone show me the section of rules dealing with this? |

i'm not sure if lands count as green...but saprolings would be another green perm.. |

i guess godhead of awe would be similar if you could somehow get a -1 -1 counter on the elf... |

| Lands are colourless and it's non-targetting ability only works in play, so you can counter it just fine. |

Drove of elves is green itself so killing all other elves will still leave it as a 1/1.
Yes you can counter it. All cards can be countered unless stated otherwise, or have split second.
There are many ways to deal with it. Combat damage? Non-targeted damage spells? Make opponent sacrifice? Mass removal? |

Split Second cards can be countered, but only by one card that I'm aware of (in type 2, there's a bunch outside of type 2).
Counterbalance! It sucks in standard! Woo! |

As far as I've understood, Drove of Elves is affected by all green PERMANENTS and not only elves.
It says:
Drove of Elves's power and toughness are each equal to the number of green permanents you control.
The official rulebook says that permanents are everything in play (creature, land, artifact, and so on).
this means that it's not only affected by elves, but lands and everything else in play aswell - as long as it's green.
Let's say I have 4 Forest Lands, 1 Drove of Elves, and 2 Elve Warrior Tokens.
4+1+2=7
So it's a 7/7
If it was only affected by other Elves (wich the card says it isn't) it would only be a 3/3
Am I misunderstanding something, or is this card the ultimaaaate? |

You are missing was what pointed out several times: lands have no colour. You can have twenty forests in play, but if your only other permanent is the Drove of Elves, it's just a 1/1.
Since it's a very old post, already drifting off-topic and quite adequately answered back in the day, I'm closing this. |
