Yerp ive come up with yet another sealed pool. as usual, i'll just post the cards and if you could, indicate in your post the build u would've ended up with and if can, please post a functioning 40 card maindeck along with it (as i think my mana was a bit effy as well) and (perhaps) reasons why you would go with one particular build if theres more than one viable build available.

i'll post my build and my results later on as we get more feedback.

I feel this build makes the best of the two tribes you have the most strength in goblins with lightning crafter and squeak pie sneak and elves with lys alana and wolf skull Shaman whilst also making alot of your other bombie card obsyidan battle axe. Also utilizing the mana fixing you were given to the max making room for the best common in lorwyn mulldrifter.

I know the mana base isnt as good as you would ideally like but sometimes you have to let things like that slip a little if you really want to make a build that can compete for the top slots, i feel it is the case with this pool.

The Curve is pretty good also though the 3 drop slot is a little empty. Festercreep would be the main sideboard card of note as he is nuts versus some decks I would have liked to have found a place for him main but Im not sure what to take out. Perhasp the footbottom feast or boggart birth rite. Also 500th post!!!!

sorry trotsky i was waiting for other people to drop more comments as well. guess not that many people are interested in my sealed pools nemore. -_-

but yes thanks Perry and Trotsky for taking the time and effort to build that.

im quite surprised by ur built actually. u made some really valid points about abusing the bombs ; lightning crafter, skull-shaman, lys alana huntmaster and the warrior equipment with loads of warriors.

my only question is would u really play black? by playing black, it gains squeaking pie sneak (and boggart loggers perhaps), packs disdain, weed strangle and footbottom feast but it compromises the mana base. but i do have to agree that with the built i played with, at times i had problems casting crafter because there was no other goblin or shaman in play so i guess by playing GBru u get to maximize the number of outlets for u to champion lightning crafter on.

just the problem is that this deck has a plethora of quality two drops and will most probably end up being the aggressor in the match since it doesnt have access to many removals and cannot afford to play control. one might think that by being the aggro, its better not to compromise the integrity of one's mana base to minimize color problems early on?

and what dyou think of Perry's build? it is remarkably similar to mine. a straight up GR build? why would u go against (if there is a reason) going with that build?

owh and im not provoking or anything just asking questions for the sake of discussion. Smile

I know the mana base isnt the best but with the deck your playing i can not see you beating any of the good decks. If your playing the smokebraider and the elementals plus vivid and springleaf drum which you really should be then you should def be playing the mulldrifter as it gives you 3 ways to cast it which for one card is more than enough.

The mana base actually has the same amount assuming you used the same mana base as perry of green sources, the leaf gilder blightsoil druid and springleaf drum go a large way to fixing the problem. 7 black sources plus the drum it is reasonable to expect a black and a green in your hand most games which are basically even in terms of how much you want them, with green with a few more double costs so 1 more land and leaf gilder and your quite set.

The real risk is in red theres only a couple of red cards you really want to draw early anyway. But when you get your broken red between tar pitcher mudbutton and lightning crafter you can do some powerful things, these sort of cards make the graveyard recurssion black offers better.

From my experince if this was a PTQ straight RG with what you have is simply not good enough too top 8. Whilst with my build i would be thinking if mana base works my deck is strong enough to have a slot at being in the top 8 slots come the end of seven eight rounds.

so heres the build i ended up with.

1cc

Shard Volley
Kindled Fury

2cc
Bosk Banneret
Elvish Warrior
Wolf-Skull Shaman
Woodland Changeling
Leaf GIlder
Smokeraider
Adder-Staff Boggart

3cc
Seething Pathblazer
Fire Juggler
Mudbutton Torchrunner
Obsidian Battle-Axe

4cc
Ambassador Oak
Lys Alana huntmaster
Lightning Crafter
Ceaseless Searblades

5cc
Game-Trail Changeling
Mulldrifter
Consuming Bonfire

6cc++
Axegrinder Giant
Guardian of Cloverdell

lands:
2 island
8 forests
7 mountains

this was the build i played with and hit a 4-1-1 record making top8. my thoughts when building this pool are to maximize aggressiveness thus minimizing only to one splash. and straight up i decided it was gonna be GR because of the fact that it has the bombs in it ; skull shaman, crafter, lys alana huntmaster and battle-axe. i did consider black for a while but with only roughly 2/3 playable creatures (imo, which might be entirely wrong), id rather play red that also could provide me with 2 removals and a combat trick.

and also, with that build the shaman/goblin count comes up to 9. it was pretty fun championing guardian of cloverdell with lightning crafter! Very Happy that aside, i did at times find problems to champion crafter. but that was partly because ive only got one dude with the relevant creature type in play and the opponent has either mountains or swamps or islands open which could possibly result in a 2 for 1 situation for me.

interestingly enough, i did consider to splash in this build. the two choices came down between splashing blue for draw power or black for graveyard recursion. in the end i went with blue but decided to side my splash in to black against decks with loads of removal. not that it mattered tho cause im playing 20 creatures (19 with relevant power and toughness) unless the other player has mass removal.

and of course in situations i did ended up siding in footbottom feast and revive the fallen and glad that i did so in those situations.

i guess the only thing to note is that the lack of tricks available within the colors i played. it was frustrating that the only combat trick i did have access to was only kindled fury i guess. my one loss came to a deck playing the same colors as i do (even with the same splash) but only with more quality stuff like countryside crusher, bramblewood paragon and a buttload of pump spells (fistful force, hunting triad).

owh and i also didnt play tarpitcher because there werent that many things to sac in my build. with only a 'goblin' count of 5 (seriously who would want to sac lightning crafter to tarpitcher?) i decided against playing mr pitcher.

i do agree with u trotsky saying that the pitcher + torchrunner + gyard recursion makes it really tempting to play black. i guess in the end i just decided not to mess around with my mana base too much (since i decided against playing drum).
