T...I'm not sure what you were saying there.

If A attacks with 2 1/1s and B blocks 1 of them with the Fanatic then stacks damage and sacs Fanatic to shoot the other 1/1; then yes both attackers would die and B would still take damage.
BUT....If B uses both his creatures (Llanowar Elf and Mogg Fanatic) to block both attackers, then stacks damage, and then sacs Fanatic to shoot A he could avoid taking damage at all. That's all I've been trying to say. I never said anything about the other answers being wrong. Just giving a different set of blocking options/plays.

Lonewulf - you are confusing A and B.

Player A has a Llanowar Elves and a Elf token

Player B has a Mogg Fanatic

Player A attacks with both his creatures

Player B blocks Llanowar Elves with Mogg Fanatic

Manveru then asks "if I sacrifice Fanatic to kill the unblocked elf token, does the Llanwar Elf still deal combat damage?"

The answer is no, as I said in the first reply in this thread. The answer to the actual question is simply no: a blocked creature remains blocked whether or not the blocking creature is present to receive damage.

The other replies deal with better solutions for player B. Unless he is at 1 life, he should take the 1 damage from the unblocked token in order to let the Fanatic stack his damage to the Llanowar Elves, then sacrifice Fanatic to kill the token. That way he trades 2 for 1 - always better than 1 for 1.

But Manveru didn't ask anyone to do that, and noone is speaking of the defending player having two creatures to block with, except for Lonewulf.

Thanks Vedrfolner. I see where I read this wrong. I thought B also had a Llanowar in addition to his Fanatic. It's a little harder to make calls without visual representation of what's on the board.
