I'm a little unaware of just how the spell you choose to play effects what can be played...
A sorcery is supposed to only be played during your main phase on an empty stack, or creatures for that instance.
Can i discard one at EOT of my opponent and play it for madness? |

| Madness is an ability, and abilities are instants unless the card states otherwise. |

That's highly misleading.
Madness is a keyword, not an ability (and the keyword represents several abilities, none of which you can decide to play). You can play it whenever you discard it, because Madness tells you so. You are in fact playing it during the resolution of a triggered ability, on a time you don't have priority and could not play instants. But because the triggered ability resolving says: 'You can play the card now', you can play it.
You can play activated abilities whenever you have priority, just like an instant, but that has nothing to do with triggered abilities, static abilities or keywords. |

I wasn't very technical there, just contrasted a spell with Madness. Your explanation is better, of course.
I just wanted to point out that the activated ability or spell allowing you to discard at the end of the opponent's turn of course needs to be an instant. |
