not to rag on you guys or anything...but shared animosity sucks giant walrus testicles.

why not build around a card that doesn't need a bunch of other stuff to go it's way just to work? boggart shenanigans just seems better here

The thing about Boggart Shenanigans is that it needs to be in play while more than 3 creatures you control goes to the graveyard for it to deal more damage than a Ghostfire.

If Boggart Shenanigans looked like this:

Cost: 2R

Sorcery

As an additional cost to play Boggart Shenanigans, sacrifice three creatures. Deal 3 damage to target player.

... would anyone even consider playing it?

It isn't actually that bad, but not far from it.

Ggerg the same could be said of nantuko husk or greater gargadon. They need creatures to work. Waiting ten turns for a gargadon makes no sense you need creatures or land or artifects for it. It also makes no sense to leave nantuko husk as a 2/2 but once again it needs creatures, so why not shared animosity? It needs creatures just as much as gargadon and husk, so why can't it be played?

Shared Animosity has a very narrow function. It is good only when you attack with three or more creatures that are already in play and ready to attack.

If it is played when you have no creatures in play, it takes at least 3 turns before it does anything.

If the creatures are blocked and killed, or destroyed, Shared Animosity does nothing.

So in other words, Shared Animosity is a card that is very powerful when it gets the ideal play. When it doesn't, it is weak.

I was at my shop yesterday tinkering around with this deck when my kyle sanchez walked up. Just like usual he starts doin his thing building a merfolk deck for fun. He put it in red sleeves which also happended to be my the color i had, and ended up picking up my deck by accident... dumb ass. Anyway i was talking about shared animosity with him,and asking him what he thought. He ran through my deck a few times, and decided it was a great concept. The problem though is the deck has no other direction to go, he said he would get backj to me with an alternative route. So i am hoping.

Well, the day before yesterday I made real my idea of a goblin deck with shared animosity, yesterday I tesdede it against elves and faeries, and today I was looking through the internet for any ideas or decklists and this is how I ended up beeing a new member here for the need to make a post, because I saw what you are all have been saying and your decklists of the archetype. I have to say that the only decklist I agree with is that of darkness. Goblins are not the deck that will explode with EFFICIENT one drops and beat the opponent to death till turn 4. they never where and they will never be. Goblins DONT have evasion. Goblins DONT have big bodies to overrun other creatures.Even with the animosity in play , this stradegy does not win... The goblins win with BIG SWARMING ATTACKS .They will put some small early small preassure on the board, they will chump block at one point, then they will play more goblins , chump more, and at the point that their opponent thinks they got the game , the goblins will do a massive attack almost blindly with all their mumbers. Thats why the war marshall, marsh flitter and siege-gang commander are so good. They bring in a LOT of creatures. animosity is the finisher. you should play it just before the great attack. they wont know what hit 'em. and mutavault is another sneacking evil goblin to swarm. My decklist did amazingly well with elves, decently with the fae, and so did with doran which seemed to be the worst due to doran himself and bitterblossom. i will post it here for all of you to get an idea of how the deck should look. I m not saying its perfect, but its decent.

4 AUNTI'S HOVEL
4 SULFUROUS SPRINGS
3 GRAVEN CAIRNS
4 MUTAVAULT
2 PENDELHAVEN
1 URBORG,TOMB OF YAWGMOTH
2 SWAMP
5 MOUNTAIN

2 GREATER GARGADON
4 MOGG FANATIC
4 MOGG WAR MARSHALL
4 SQUEAKING PIE SNEAK
4 MAD AUNTIE
4 MARSH FLITTER
2 EARWIG SQUAD
3 SIEGE-GANG COMMANDER

4 TARFIRE
4 SHARED ANIMOSITY

sb
4 pithing needle
4 damnation
2 greater gargadon
3 boggart shennanigans
1 earwig squad
1 siege-gang commander

The deck is very consistent and solid. I am sure you will not understand the purpose of some cards, like the only 2 dons, or the tarfire instead of incinerate or somethin better, or thew damnation in sb , but I will respond to any questions and i will hear any suggestions from anyone testing THIS decklist.

I would argue that Incinerate is more useful than Shared Animosity in the majority of situations. In most situations, I believe Incinerate would deal more damage too.

But when you have resolved a SGC, and the opponent decides to attack with his creatures, passing the turn - and you drop a Shared Animosity attacking for 17 damage... then it is good. Sadly, this doesn't happen too often, and he will be surprised only once.

But my deck runs Grave Pact in its stead, and I admit that I prefer to play it much the same way as you do with Shared Animosity. I drop it when I can do nasty stuff with it at once - holding it in my hand until the right opportunity arise.

My sideboard has land destruction (previously discard) plus earwig squad. But having Shared Animosity in the sideboard to swap with Grave Pact could be very nice vs control. Along with Thoughtseize to pluck out Wrath. In your deck I would change Damnations to Grave Pact.

well , I can say that I like your decklist, I have played with torch runner as well, and your deck is as the goblin deck of this time is meant to be. It is like mine , the only differnece is the approach they have on the game. This thread is about the animosity this is why I have posted this decklist. Shared animosity i9s not so bad as you think with so many gang-goblin cards and mutavault makes it better too.its is not so bad if any opponent plays wrath of god and after that you play even the marsh flitter . With the animosity in play every tiny creature is a monster. even if any opponent decides to block he will have to trade his vanquishers, goyf or other better creatures with some of the flitters goblins. spot removal is bad against the animosity as well. If it is a solid choice of deck for today's standard is another thing.
