card is a 4/4 with vigilance. It has the ability:
1W(t): search your library for an equipment card and put it into play attached to a creature you control.
can sonehewer attack and use the ability as he's attacking? Say I attack with him, and after blockers are declared I use his ability to get a loxodon warhammer and attach it to him. Loxodon doesn't take effect yet right? |

...Why wouldn't Warhammer work if it's attached to the creature?
Yes you can use it when it attacks, and yes the equipment takes effect right away. That's the whole point of giving the thing Vigilance. |

Declare Attackers Step ... "i swing with ABC GH"
Priority Windows... "my preeminent captain triggers" "in response to cenn's heir trigger i tarfire it" "i flash in sentinels of glen elandra"
Declare Blockers Step... "Z blocks A and X blocks G"
Priority Windows... "i activate stonehewer giant" "i earthbrawn my blocker"
Stack Damage... "I assign 2 to your blocker and trample 2 to you"
Priority Windows... "Damage on the stack, I sacrifice mogg fanatic at G"
Combat Damage... "A and H and Z die"
Priority Windows... "my hornet harasser triggers targetting X." "I tap desert to shoot B"
keep that near you |

| Think about it. If you had a sliver out that gave vigilance, you would still be able to tap your 2 gemhides for 4 manas after they attack, right? Because they are still untapped. Same thing here. |
