Hi.
Well, I'm not much of a complainer, but here goes.
MWS and Magic-League are great for so many reasons, though they are far from perfect. That's not, however, what I want to talk about today. It's you; each and every one of you who uses MWS to play Magic.

I've met some wonderful people by playing Magic with MWS and had a lot of good times too, some which turned more into chats than games. It's really awesome that you can connect with people all over the world to play a great game, totally free. I've shared stories, interests, dreams and goals with some of those people. Wow.... totally great!

However, there is another kind of person who I frequently play against, and I don't mean to stereotype, but there are certain things that seem to happen between us. I understand that some people just want to play, play, play, and test their decks as much as possible against as many different decks as possible. But the thing is, I often feel like it's very impersonal, when all you see is another deck, not a person sitting here, wanting to play too.
I don't need you to be talkative.
Of course it's nice to communicate, but I'm looking for some respect, as a person, as another player.
This is a bad thing about MWS; you can be an anonymous jerk if you want, with no negative consequences.
I've had too many games that go like this:

<>fast play please
<>hurry up
<me> thinking
<Player Lost>

or, (just yesterday, it was)
<me> how do i . .. .
<>omg
<Player Lost>
<me> oh, i found it...

I somehow doubt that these two people would pick up their cards and leave the table if playing a real game with me. I doubt anyone reading this would do that to someone.

Magic-League and MWS doesn't have the greatest reputation out there. (see http://mtgsalvation.com/759-mws-mtgo-it-aint.html) These kind of behaviours don't make it better. We should be trying to welcome people, keep the community strong, and have a good time while at it, not annoying others for our own personal gain.

ok, that's enough.
Be well all, peace

ML does not control mws when u play on mws if u play on mwsplay ur not necessarily playing people from the league so there is no use to complain, the link u posted is bashing mws this league has no control over people who dl mws and play on it so dont complain here

hmmm... well, i don't feel as i am bashing anyone, just trying to make people think about being kinder.
i do usually use mwsplay.net, but i asume that many people that play there also look here....

so are you saying that if i go on the irc room, i'll find nicer people to play against?
if so, i'll try it out.

thanks!

As it has been noted, the majority of players that use the mwsplay server are not m-l players.

My suggestion would be this: Play League games, which are found through the #magic-league IRC channel. These matches are two out of three, and if your opponent gets aggravated by your card choices, play speed, etc., and disconnects, they'll receive a ratings hit by forfeiting the match to you. Also, it allows you to keep track of players names and avoid league games with players you find to be unsavory. Furthermore, if your opponent is engaging in harassing behavior, you can report them in #judges4you, and if the behavior is repeated, action may be taken.

The unfortunate reality is that the mwsplay server is completely anonymous, which means a majority of players are going to act without regard to the other player. Take that anonymity away by taking part in the league, and the quality of your games will increase.

"worse then craze"

...your aware you yourself fall into this rather large and constant expanding category right?

It's ok, few people don't fall in it.
