I was looking to design a deck based on the current meta and drew some inspiration from Dragon Stompy from legacy. Surprisingly the deck did well against many of the popular decks including TEPS, TRON, some blue decks and Tarmoburn. So Here's the list:

4 Bloodstained Mire
4 Wooded Foothills
1 Forest
2 Stomping Ground
8 Mountains
19 Lands

4 Arc Slogger
4 Gathan Raiders
3 Rakdos Pit Dragon
4 Magus of the Moon
4 Simian Spirit Guide
2 Siege gang Commander
21 Creatures

4 Chrome Mox
4 Rite of Flame
3 Seething Song
3 Chalice of the Void
2 Empty the Warrens
2 Blood Moon
2 Trinisphere
20 Spells

Sideboard:
3 Shattering Spree
4 Tormod's Crypt
4 Boldwry Heavyweights
2 Krosan Grip
2 Dwarven Blastminer

The Deck trades card advantage for a massive tempo advantage, but the loss of card advantage isn't really a problem because of the dragon, which ends games fast, and gathan raiders. Often times a first turn chalice for 1 or 2 can be very frustrating for your opponent . Ie, chalice for one shuts down fanatic, ape, lavamancer, top, chromatic star, etc. cc= 2 = shutting down burning wish, living wish, goyf, ancient grudge, mana leak, counterspell, counterbalance, etc. And on top of that the 6 blood moon effects are also very frustrating for many of today's decks. Slows down the combo decks enough for you to pull a quick win. Trinisphere is in there for similar reasons, a fast trinisphere causes havoc on aggro decks, affinity, and plenty of others and gives you enough advantage to start casting big stuff.

As for the sideboard it's pretty standard. Shattering spree for affinity, other random stuff. Grip for shackles, etc. Crypt against dredge, etc. Blastminers are very good, this deck can generally drop them turn one and again frustrates opponents. Some may wonder why the Boldwyr Heavy Weights are in there but they are very effective against decks without big creatures. Generally you can drop them turn 2, against TEPS they get nothing, most aggro decks will fetch goyf, but its not a problem, the Heavyweight will justr roll over everything and everyone with its trample and can just win games on its own a lot of the time.

Anybody have any constructive suggestions as to how to improve the deck?

I tested a similar deck, jitte was really nice against goblins and zoo, wich were sometimes hard matchups.

yeah, it's a neat deck. Red's version of Haterator. I like it better than it's retarded GW cousin though, because mono coloured decks are just better in Extended. (that's just my opinion.)

Make sure not to board in the Heavy weights against PLB or NLB, you might just find yourself getting pwn'd by a Sower of Temptation. lol

Jitte owns in this deck. For that matter a SOFI or two work be awesome on the pit dragon who BTW is a definate 4 of...and I'd play 3 trinisphere MD....something like this...

-2 Empty the warrens
-2 Seige Gang Commander
-1 Arc Slogger
-1 Mountain

+1 Pit Dragon
+1 Trinisphere
+3 Umezawa's Jitte
+1 SOFI

Note:
Instead of the Blastminers, just play 2 more blood Moon in the board. I would play Ancient Grudge over the spree.
