Stompy decks, it seems, are becoming increasingly popular. There are a few different types (decks) of stompy.

Let's look at the basis behind all stompy decks. They will usually all contain the following:

4x Ancient Tomb
4x City of Traitors
4x Mox Diamond/Chrome Mox
4x Chalice of the Void

This is usually universal to the stompy archetype. Right now I'd like to focus on Dragon Stompy.

Here is the basic list for Dragon Stompy:

Manabase
City of Traitors
Ancient Tomb
Mountain
Chrome Mox
Simian Spirit Guide
Seething Song

Creatures
Arc-Slogger
Rakdos Pit Dragon
Magus of the Moon
Gathan Raiders
Sulfur Elemental
Razormane Masticore
(Simian Spirit Guide)

Spells
Umezawa's Jitte
Sword of Fire and Ice
Chalice of the Void
Trinisphere
Demonfire
Blood Moon

The above list is an idea of what is common to the Dragon Stompy maindeck.

In the MWS Trial tournament on March 8th, ZeKo ran the following build:

ZeKo's Top 4 Dragon Stompy

// Manabase
4 City of Traitors
10 Mountain
4 Ancient Tomb
4 Seething Song
4 Chrome Mox
4 Simian Spirit Guide

// Creatures
4 Rakdos Pit Dragon
4 Arc-Slogger
4 Gathan Raiders
4 Magus of the Moon
3 Sulfur Elemental

// Spells
4 Blood Moon
3 Umezawa's Jitte
4 Chalice of the Void

// Sideboard
4 Pyrokinesis
3 Trinisphere
4 Tormod's Crypt
4 Pithing Needle

He finished Top 4.

Some testing has resulted in my list below:

My Personal List

// Creatures

// Spells

Here are some questions to think about and/or discuss:

Razormane Masticore, hot or not?

How many Sulfur Elementals, if any, should be mainboarded?

Should you run SoFI and Jitte, one or the other, and how many should be mainboarded?

How can the sideboard be improved?

With the release of Morningtide, will Taurean Mauler find a way into this deck?

Tauran mauler seems like it would only be good if it was played turns 1,2, or 3 whereas sulfur elemental- the likley cut for it- is more universaly good. I really like its effects; unconterable and killing decree tokens, mom, and more is good.

As for sword of fire and ice im not a fan, it seems slow clunky. In other words, it throws a wrench in your deck. Besides the benifit of card draw in the end is not worth the cost of an extra turn to use it. Umezawa's jitte is lean in mana cost, has a wider range of effects, and can store up counters to control the board more. Solid card, no need for fire//ice.

I love the top 4 list exept it is missing something that the origional builds lack, which is late game recovery. I would like to point out that browbeat is a good card in this deck since in late game if your opponent pays the life they are running risky to being killed soon and its concentrate if not. Win-Win in my book. Maybe in sb though at first against WoGs and such.

Saying Stompy decks need late game power is soo very wrong. Your objective is to lock and win ASAP. My issue with dropping blood moon is Decks like NQGr can just bolt your magus and they're back on their way to kicking your ass with a tarmogoyf. At least 3 Echantments are needed to be sure they dont get this advantage..

I think you're right.
You need Blood Moon against some decks.

My list is:

4 City of Traitors
10 Mountain
4 Ancient Tomb
4 Seething Song
4 Chrome Mox
4 Simian Spirit Guide

3 Rakdos Pit Dragon
3 Arc-Slogger
4 Gathan Raiders
4 Magus of the Moon
3 Sulfur Elemental

2 Blood Moon
3 Umezawa's Jitte
1 Sword of Fire and Ice
4 Chalice of the Void
3 Trinisphere

I think Jitte is better than Sword but it is legendary so 4x is too much.
A first turn Trinisphere is the best protection you can have agianst any deck running counters and it can win the game against storm decks.
