| If you extirpate's an opponents Revelark lets say, but they already have aven on the field, do they only search the top 4 cards of their library for other copies, or do they search their whole library? |

so mindcensor applies and you only search the top 4 cards |

Except that his opponent has the Aven Mindcensor in play and he plays Extirpate. So it does apply, exactly because he's the one searching. |

| You can only search the top 4 cards. Coincidentally, 4 is the amount of manas you can make with a gemhide sliver and a vesuvan shapeshifter copying it. |
